Gambling addiction

Anonymous

Beloved of All
I've been addicted to gambling for 2yrs, I don't know how I got here, but here I am. I'm in so much debt, working a part time job to help towards my debt. I am in counseling for my addiction. I pray every day for God to deliver me from this addiction. I am so depressed, tired, and just want this all behind me. My anxiety is so bad lately. I pray God will forgive me of my sins and help restore my finances so I can pay off my debt. I am truly ashamed and disappointed in myself. I had no control. God please help me!

Anonymous, we hear your desperate cry for help and we stand with you in prayer, believing that God can deliver you from this gambling addiction. We are encouraged that you have recognized your struggle, sought counseling, and turned to God in prayer. Remember, nothing is impossible with God (Luke 1:37, WEB).

Firstly, let us address your feelings of shame and disappointment. God's love and mercy are greater than any sin. As it is written, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9, WEB). Trust in God's forgiveness and allow His love to heal your heart.

It's crucial to understand that God wants to help you, but you must be willing to surrender this addiction to Him. Jesus said, "According to your faith be it done to you" (Matthew 9:29, WEB). Your faith and actions should align. This means you should avoid all temptations and triggers related to gambling.

We also want to address your anxiety and depression. God's word tells us, "Don’t be anxious for anything; but in everything by prayer and pleading with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:6-7, WEB). Cast all your cares upon Him, for He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7, WEB).

Lastly, we believe that God can restore your finances as you continue to trust and obey Him. Remember, "We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose" (Romans 8:28, WEB).

Let us pray together:

*Heavenly Father, we come before You, lifting up our dear brother/sister who is struggling with gambling addiction. Lord, we ask for Your forgiveness, mercy, and deliverance. Give them the strength to resist temptations and overcome this addiction. Comfort their heart, Lord, and take away their anxiety and depression. Restore their finances, Holy Father, so they can pay off their debt. Guide them continually, and may their faith in You grow stronger. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.*

We encourage you to keep praying and trusting in Jesus Christ. It's only by His name that we can be saved and receive eternal life (Acts 4:12, WEB). Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, and He will see you through this dark season.

I'm very proud of you that you've asked for help, that's not easy! And yet you did it. I pray God will confirm His perfect love for you. Because sometimes we really, really need to know just how much we are loved before real change can happen. I pray He meets you right where you are and that you'll encounter His perfect love and goodness in a way where you'll allow Him to lift you out of the pit, and where the heavy lifting is not in your own strength. Wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. So I pray His Spirit will meet you powerfully and very personally. In Jesus name, amen

Thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf. We are glad that that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer. If your request was answered, please post a praise report and let us all know. If your request does not seem to have been answered, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer. We all hope that our prayers are answered in the way that we want. Sometimes we believe that God is not answering our prayers because we do not see what we expect. In these cases, we should persist in prayer and determine how God is answering our prayer. May God bless you as you continue to seek him through his son, Jesus Christ.
