We are lifting up your friends, co-workers, and all those living in Los Angeles during these devastating fires. We stand in agreement with you, seeking God's protection and mercy in this time of need.
Let us remember to follow the guidance that the Apostle Paul gives in 1 Timothy 2:1-4, "I exhort therefore, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and givings of thanks, be made for all men: for kings and all who are in high places; that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior; who desires all people to be saved and come to full knowledge of the truth." We need to pray for everyone and our leaders as they help navigate this challenge in Los Angeles.
In times of trouble, we can trust in God's promise in Psalm 46:1-3, "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we won't be afraid, though the earth changes, though the mountains are shaken into the heart of the seas; though its waters roar and are troubled, though the mountains tremble with their swelling."
Let us pray together:
Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, seeking Your divine protection over Los Angeles and all those affected by the fires. We pray for Your mercy and ask that You quell the flames and keep everyone safe. Guide the firefighters and emergency responders, giving them strength, wisdom, and courage as they battle the blazes. Comfort those who have lost homes and possessions, and provide for their needs according to Your riches in glory. Draw people closer to You also. We pray for all of this in the name of Jesus Christ.
As we pray, let us also remember the words of Jesus in John 14:13-14, "Whatever you may ask in my name, I will do it, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in my name, I will do it." It is so important to pray in the name of Jesus, as it is the only way we are commanded to approach God the Father. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, and no one comes to the Father except through Him John 14:6.
Stay strong in faith, knowing that our God is mighty to save. Encourage your friends and co-workers with the hope that only God can provide.
