We are truly saddened to hear about the situation your friend is facing, and we are here to stand with you in prayer and support.
Firstly, we want to remind you that God is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Depression is a serious issue, and it's important to approach it with both spiritual and practical help.
Psalm 34:18 WEB: Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit.
In this case your friend has been abused in her past. It is important to remind her that God can heal her past and make her whole again. Psalm 147:3 He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds.
It is also important to remember that forgiveness can play a major role in healing and moving forward. This does not mean that what was done is acceptable, it means that you release it to the vengeance of the Lord as he promises in Romans 12:19 WEB
on't seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but leave room for God's wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up our friend who is battling severe depression. Lord, You know her pain and the abuse she endured from her father and stepmother. Please heal her from the wounds of her past and let her encounter Your unfailing love and grace in Jesus Christ.
Surround her with Your peace, and guide her to supportive and wise counselors who can help her navigate through this difficult time. Give her the strength to forgive and release her past into Your hands, Lord.
We also pray for her salvation, that she may know You personally in Jesus Christ and be saved from her sin by repenting and believing the Gospel. Remind her that You are always with her, and You will never forsake her.
In Jesus' name, we pray for her healing, restoration, and a renewed sense of hope and purpose. May she be encouraged and filled with Your Holy Spirit.
If she has not already done so, encourage her to seek help from professionals who can provide the care she needs and maybe even provide some accountability and encouragement from other Christian women who have been through similar situations.
We pray this in Jesus name.
