Let's come together in the name of Jesus and lift up this friend in prayer, asking God to break the chains of depression, unbelief, and oppression.
Firstly, we need to understand that salvation is the most important need for your friend. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me, John 14:6 WEB. Only by believing in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior can one be saved. There is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12 WEB. So let's pray fervently for God to grant your friend repentance and faith in Jesus. Do not be led astray or not have faith. Ask God to turn his heart of unbelief to belief in the power of Jesus and open his eyes to see God's love for him. Your friend's eternal future is at stake if he does not believe in the true and living God. Be strong and courageous in your faith and prayers for him.
Let's pray as well for God to break the chains of depression. We know that the enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that we may have life, and have it abundantly John 10:10 WEB. So we rebuke the spirit of depression and command it to leave in the mighty name of Jesus. Pray for God to fill your friend with a spirit of joy and peace, as well as a sound mind as mentioned in 2 Timothy 1:7 WEB.
We also need to address the cultural issues and the expectations from his parents. The Bible commands us to honor our parents, but it should not be at the cost of our own life and well-being. In Ephesians 6:2 WEB, God commands us to Honor your father and mother, which is the first commandment with a promise. However, we must also remember that Jesus wants us to live life abundantly John 10:10 WEB. Ask God to help your friend's parents to understand this and to support your friend in his pursuits of a life pleasing to God. If the parents are not believers, pray for God to reveal Himself to them and grant them repentance and salvation. Ask the Holy Spirit to convict them of putting this oppressive burden on him.
Regarding the financial situation, God promises to supply all our needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus, Philippians 4:19 WEB. Let's ask God to provide for your friend's needs and help him to trust in God's provision. Pray for God to open doors for a job or other opportunities that will help him support himself and his parents as well. Remember, God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, Ephesians 3:20 WEB.
Finally, let's pray together.
Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus, lifting up our friend to You. We ask that You break the chains of depression and unbelief in his life. Open his eyes to see You and believe Your love for him. Grant him repentance and faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Help him to see that You are real and good, that You have a hope and a future for him. Break the chains of any demonic oppression and grant him freedom in Christ.
We also ask that You work in the lives of his parents. Help them to understand that while they deserve honor, they should not put unreasonable expectations on their son. We pray that You provide for our friend's needs according to Your riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Open doors for him to all the possible opportunities.
In Jesus' name we pray for these things.
