Friend needs release from alcohol addiction

Please pray for my friend ### who has a serious addiction to alcohol. He's drinking himself to death. ### is a ### year old disabled Vietnam veteran. Thank you do much!!!

Let us come together in prayer for ###, the friend of ###, who is struggling with alcohol addiction. Firstly, we acknowledge that all healing comes from God.

We rebuke the spirit of addiction, alcoholism, and any stronghold that it has in ###'s life. We speak freedom, life, and restoration over ###. We believe that God is able to deliver ### from the bondage of alcohol addiction and restore ### to a life of wholeness, peace, and joy. God's heart is for ### to prosper and be in health, even as ###'s soul prospers (3 John 1:2).

We bring the name of Jesus Christ into this situation. The Bible tells us that it is only through the name of Jesus that we can be saved not only from sin but from all types of bondage and addictions. There is power in the name of Jesus and it is by His authority that we can approach God the Father.

Let us pray:

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You today, lifting up ### to Your throne of grace. Lord, we ask for Your divine intervention in ###'s life. Deliver ### from the bondage of alcohol addiction, and restore ### to a life of freedom and wholeness. Give ### the strength and courage to overcome this struggle, and help ### to draw closer to You in this process. Surround ### with Your love, peace, and joy. Give ### and others who are supporting ### the wisdom and grace to walk alongside ### in this journey.

We also pray for ###'s salvation, that ### may come to know You personally through faith in Jesus Christ. We ask that Your Holy Spirit will convict ### of ###'s sin and draw ### to You. We pray that ### may confess with ###'s mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in ###'s heart that You raised Him from the dead, for it is with the heart that one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth that one confesses unto salvation (Romans 10:9-10).

We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, who sets the captives free and gives us life and life more abundantly.

Amen.

We encourage ### to continue supporting ###, not only through prayer but also by encouraging ### to seek help from local Christian resources that specialize in addiction recovery. We know that God is faithful, and He will complete the good work that He has started in ###'s life (Philippians 1:6).

We admonish ### and ### that there is no other way to approach God than through the name of Jesus Christ. The Bible tells us that 'there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.' (Acts 4:12).

Furthermore, we encourage ### to resist the devil and draw near to God. When ### does this, the devil will flee, and God will come close to ###. ### has the power to choose to humble ###self and seek God. Once ### does this God will lift ### up. (James 4:7-10).

To be clear, we do not have the power to resist the devil on our own. It is only by the mighty name of Jesus Christ that we can overcome sin, temptation, and the devil. However, God is faithful, and He will not let ### be tempted beyond ###'s ability to endure. Instead, He will provide a way out so that ### can stand up under it. (1 Corinthians 10:13).

We're standing with you, ###, in prayer for ###. It's heartbreaking to see anyone, especially a veteran like ###, struggling with addiction. We believe in the power of prayer and the love of our Heavenly Father to bring healing and freedom.

Let's continue to lift ### up, asking God to break the chains of alcohol addiction in his life. We declare that ### is a child of God, loved and cherished, and that he deserves to live a life free from the bondage of addiction. We ask that God would give ### the strength to overcome this challenge, and that He would surround him with a support system of love and encouragement.

We also pray for ###'s heart to be open to God's love and grace. We ask that God would draw ### closer to Him, helping him to understand the depth of God's love for him. We believe that God can use this situation to bring ### into a deeper relationship with Him.

Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Heavenly Father, we come before You, lifting up ###, a beloved friend who is struggling with a serious addiction to alcohol. Lord, You are the God of healing and restoration, and we ask that You intervene in ###’s life. Free him from the grip of addiction, and bring him into a place of peace, health, and wholeness. As Your Word in Psalm 34:17 declares, "The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; He delivers them from all their troubles." Hear ###’s cries, Lord, and deliver him from this battle.

Father, we ask for healing not only for ###’s body but also for his heart and mind. As a ###-year-old disabled Vietnam veteran, he has carried heavy burdens. We pray that You lift those burdens and replace them with Your peace. Your Word in Matthew 11:28-30 says, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls." Grant ### this rest, Lord, and renew his spirit.

Lord, we ask that You place compassionate and supportive people in ###’s life who will help him on his journey to sobriety. Surround him with those who will guide him toward healing and encourage him to seek the support he needs. Your Word in Galatians 6:2 encourages us to "Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ." Let others be a light in his life during this dark time.

We pray for ### to feel Your presence and love in a profound way. Remind him of his worth and value as Your child. As Jeremiah 29:11 proclaims, "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Help ### to believe in this promise and take steps toward the hope and future You have for him.

Thank You, Father, for Your grace, mercy, and power to transform lives. We trust in Your ability to bring healing and freedom to ###. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
