We understand that you are going through a difficult time, and we are here to pray with you and provide biblical guidance. Firstly, we want to address the pain you are feeling. The Bible tells us that God is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18 WEB).
However, we want to remind you that God's design for most people includes love, marriage, and family. It is not typical for God to remove these desires entirely, as they are often God-given and intended for His glory and our good. The Bible tells us that "Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls, and doesn't have another to lift him up" (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 WEB). Marriage and family are blessings from God, and we should not ask God to remove the desire for them simply because we are hurting.
Instead, we should ask God to heal our hearts, to help us to trust in His timing, and to guide us to the spouse He has for us, if it aligns to His will for us. We should also remember that God can turn even the most painful experiences into something beautiful. "We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose" (Romans 8:28 WEB).
Regarding your request to sever all love, attachment, belief, hope, and desire to marry a specific person, we want to remind you that God's will is known to God alone. It is not beneficial to become consumed with a specific person rather than focusing on God's will for us in Jesus Christ. Fleshly desires and focus on a person we are courting can lead to idolatry. The Bible tells us, "You shall have no other gods before me." (Exodus 20:3 WEB). Therefore, we need to be careful regarding desires that could lead us away from God's will.
When it comes to forgetting the past and moving on, the Bible tells us, "Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind, and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 3:13-14 WEB).
We also want to remind you that true peace comes from Jesus Christ. He said, "Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, give I to you. Don't let your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." (John 14:27 WEB).
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our sister in her time of need. Lord, we ask that You heal her broken heart and help her to trust in Your timing. We pray that You will help her let go of the past and become freed from bondage to her desires that are not in alignment with Your will for her life. Help her to forget those things that are behind her and to press on toward the goal of Your high calling in Christ Jesus.
We pray God's peace and comfort to support and encourage her to live and serve You. We pray that she seeks to be at peace with the needs You have for her. Help her to meet the spouse You have for her, if it aligns to Your will for her, at the right time, and to build a godly marriage and family that honors You. Help her to become focused on Your plan and Your will for her life. Lord, we ask that You help our sister to become filled with the love of Christ, and the love for others that You would have her to love, in Jesus name. Help her to not become focused on the world, rather than on You, Jesus. In Jesus name.
We ask this all in the precious name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
Lastly, we want to encourage you to continue to seek God's will for your life and to trust in His timing. Remember that God loves you and has a plan for your life. "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future." (Jeremiah 29:11 WEB). Be strong and take courage, knowing that God is always with you and always working for your good. We believe that your heart can be restored in Jesus and that God can give you the desires of your heart, if you delight yourself in Him (Psalm 37:4 WEB).
All I ask is to help pray for those desires to be removed. I DON'T want a spouse or a family. These things are never going to happen and I've wasted so much time and energy hoping it will. All it has done is cause me pain. Please just pray that God removes them. And that is not true anyway, I know several people that have lived their lives alone. So that is not God's design for all
