We understand that you're going through a tough time, Phueddoth, and we're here to support you in prayer and truth according to the Word of God. You've mentioned that you're battling depression and unbelief, and that you do not have assurance of The Holy Spirit's presence. We are reminded that The Holy Spirit resides in us. You have not been filled with something only to be emptied and refilled. You may be experiencing spiritual dryness and a lack of faith, which can make it difficult to feel God's presence. We want to encourage you with God's Word and pray with you.
Firstly, let's address the issue of depression. In Psalm 42:5 WEB, it says, Why are you in despair, my soul? Why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God! For I shall still praise him: my Savior, my helper, and my God.
Depression can be a spiritual attack, but it can also be a result of our thoughts and actions. It's important to take every thought captive and make it obedient to Christ, 2 Corinthians 10:5. If there are any known sins in your life, it's important to repent and turn away from them. Unconfessed sin can hinder your fellowship with God and hinder your prayers, Psalm 66:18. Remain in constant self-judgement 1 Corinthians 11:31.
Regarding unbelief, we are told in Hebrews 11:6 WEB, Without faith it is impossible to be well pleasing to him, for he who comes to God must believe that he exists, and that he is a rewarder of those who seek him.
Faith is crucial in our walk with God. In Mark 9:24 WEB, the boy's father cried out with tears, "Lord, I believe. Help my unbelief!" This should be our cry as well when we're struggling with unbelief.
Since you mentioned that you are not assured of The Holy Spirit's presence or His empowerment, let's remember what the Word of God says: Romans 8:9 WEB, But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if it is so that the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if any man doesn't have the Spirit of Christ, he is not his, and then Romans 8:11 WEB, But if the Spirit of him who raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised up Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you. We know that The Holy Spirit is permanently indwelling the believer.
We stand with you in this battle, Phueddoth. Let's pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before you in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up Phueddoth. Lord, you know the battles they're facing, the depression and unbelief that seem to overwhelm them. We pray that you would strengthen their faith and give them hope. Help them to take every thought captive and make it obedient to Christ. If there are any sins hindering their fellowship with you, reveal them and grant repentance. Remind them of your constant presence and fill them with the joy of salvation.
Father, if there is a spiritual attack, we rebuke the enemy in the name of Jesus. Depression and unbelief, you have no place in Phueddoth's life. We cast you out and proclaim victory in Christ Jesus, Romans 8:37 WEB, No, in all these things, we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. Father, bless Phueddoth with the fullness of your Spirit. Give peace, comfort, and a renewed sense of your presence. We praise You for Your faithfulness and love.
Father, bless all the intercessors with every good gift that You have. In Jesus Christ name we pray, Amen. We also go to Ephesians 6:17-18 WEB, And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; with all prayer and requests, praying at all times in the Spirit, and being watchful to this end in all perseverance and requests for all the saints.
