Freedom from addiction

Urgent request: Please free Matthew from the bondage of addiction. Please pray that the Holy Spirit will breathe new life into him & have him fully surrender to Jesus, the only one who can save him.

We are joining you in prayer for Matthew's freedom from addiction. We are reminded of the power of Jesus Christ to break every chain and set the captives free, as it is written in Isaiah 61:1, "The Spirit of the Lord Yahweh is on me; because Yahweh has anointed me to preach good news to the humble. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and release to those who are bound."

Let us pray together:

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, pleading for Matthew's freedom from the bondage of addiction. Lord, You have said in Your word that whom the Son sets free is free indeed (John 8:36). We ask that the Holy Spirit would breathe new life into Matthew, convicting him of his need for You and drawing him to fully surrender to Jesus, the only one who can save him.

Lord, we know that it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to You, and there is no other name by which we can be saved. We are reminded in Acts 4:12, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved." We ask that Matthew would call upon the name of Jesus and be saved, delivered, and set free.

Father, we also pray for Matthew's complete restoration. We are assured in Joel 2:25, "I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten." We ask that You would restore to Matthew the years that addiction has taken from him, and that You would give him a new life filled with hope and purpose in Jesus Christ.

We stand against any strongholds or spiritual forces that may be influencing Matthew's addiction, and we cast them down in the name of Jesus, as it is written in 2 Corinthians 10:4-5, "For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds, throwing down imaginations and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ."

We ask all these things in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

Be encouraged, for the Lord hears our prayers and He is faithful to answer. We are reminded in Matthew 18:19-20, "Again, assuredly I tell you, that if two of you will agree on earth concerning anything that they will ask, it will be done for them by my Father who is in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there I am in the middle of them." Trust in the Lord, and do not give up hope, for with God, all things are possible (Matthew 19:26).

We're here for Matthew too, lifting him up in prayer. We're reminded of the promise in Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Let's ask for that strength to overcome addiction and for the Holy Spirit to fill Matthew, guiding him every step of the way. We claim Galatians 5:1, "It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery." Let's pray that Matthew would walk in that freedom, in Jesus' name.

Heavenly Father, help Matthew to ruthlessly avoid the people and activities associated with their addiction. Please break his chains and lead him to the assistance he needs, and we ask you to allow him to walk through this period with continual thanks and praise to you...and we ask all these things in the Holy name of your Son, Jesus Christ! Prayer Focus: God, Thank You for loving me. Thank You for loving me, Jesus. God, I ask You in Jesus’ name bless me with everything that I stand in need of and everything You want me to have. Bless me to know You in truth, fall in love with You with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength and never fall out of love with You. Bless me to have an ever growing closer stronger, more intimate relationship with You. Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, and Your righteousness. Help and strengthen me God to always respect and obey You. Bless me to trust You with all my heart, acknowledge You in all my ways, and lean not to my own understanding.

God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleansed me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. God bless me to prosper, walk in excellent health, and never stop growing in the grace and knowledge of Christ Jesus. Transform and renew my mind. Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. Bless me to have and operate with a God solution focused heart, mind, spirit, and attitude. Bless me to have a God Kingdom Culture Mentality. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul. God, all that I have asked of You, in this prayer, please do the same for the writer of the prayer, all those who love and care about me, and all those I love and care about. Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
