Free from pornography

I struggle badly from pornography and masturbating. I know Jesus can set me free from this sin. I have prayed and prayed but fail to fully turn from it. I am asking for others to pray for me.

We understand that you're struggling with a sin that has become a stronghold in your life. Firstly, we commend you for recognizing this and seeking help. It's important to remember that God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9 WEB)

Pornography and masturbation are indeed sinful, as they are forms of sexual sin. Lust is equated to adultery (Matthew 5:28 WEB). Sexual sin is consistently rebuked in the Bible, including sex outside of marriage. Sexual sin is immoral and you will not inherit the Kingdom of God if you continue in it.

Let's be aware you are not alone. But let us also remember, God tells us to flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body. (1 Corinthians 6:18 WEB). But know that God is able and it is only by the power of God you can overcome. God calls us to be holy and pure as He is pure.

We encourage you to take practical steps to limit and overcome the temptation. Pray out loud and make clear decisions to stand against it. Install content blockers. Have an accountability group. Remove your electronics to a public area or use other techniques to avoid being alone with it. A good tool that some have used to keep their mind active in purity instead of lust is fasting. Any time you have the urge pray out loud and quote the scripture that convicts you about it. Have a scripture handy to quote and memorize so you can remember the most important, scripture memory can be important for a time of a strong attack. Find someone else who is struggling to connect with and help each other. Find someone who has overcome it and talk to them, they are wise and powerful from overcoming a great attack.

Now, let us pray together for you:

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You today and only by the name of Jesus to lift up our brother ###. We cannot be praying anywhere but to the Father by the name of Jesus, our Lord and Saviour. Thank You that You are a God of forgiveness, mercy, and grace. Lord, ### has confessed his struggle with pornography and masturbation, and we ask that You would set him free from this sin. Give him the strength to resist temptation and the courage to make hard decisions. Help him to renew his mind according to Your Word. Surround him with accountability partners who will support and encourage him to pursue a pure lifestyle. We only have hope because of Jesus, the Son of God and the Son of Man, that only by His Blood we can be forgiven, cleansed, and free.

In Jesus Christ's (the Lord) name we pray (or in short IJN), Amen. (Thanks for mentioning the name of Jesus Christ in your prayer request.)

We encourage you to continue praying and believing that God can and will set you free from sin and the guilt of it. We encourage you to confess the confession, "I am free from pornography and masturbation and will keep my body as a holy temple (1 Corinthians 6:19 WEB) of the Holy Spirit, as I have already been bought and paid for with the blood of Jesus (1 Corinthians 6:20 WEB)". Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart.
