We join you, Aelith, in your heartfelt prayer for the relief from debt. It is so encouraging to see you coming before the Lord with thankfulness and humility, acknowledging His power and goodness in your life. We will pray and provide some biblical principles to guide you.
Firstly, we commend you for acknowledging that it is only in the name of Jesus that we can approach God and seek His help. As it is written, For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. (WEB, 1 Timothy 2:5)
The Bible has much to say about debt and finances. The Lord warns us about the dangers of debt through multiple verses. The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender. (WEB, Proverbs 22:7) For in Christ Jesus neither is circumcision anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creation. (WEB, Galatians 6:15) And let us consider how to stir one another up to love and good works, (WEB, Hebrews 10:24) It is better to take refuge in Yahweh, than to put confidence in man.
It is better to take refuge in Yahweh, than to put confidence in princes.
Obey Yahweh, you sons of God; obey his covenant.
The word debt in the New Testament also translates to sin. And forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors. (WEB, Matthew 6:12) This helps us find even more passages that discuss how to be released from debt. This debt analogy is the remission of all the sins past and future. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all; the testimony in its own times;(WEB, I Timothy 2:5,6) And he said to them, 'When you pray, say, 'Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. Let your Kingdom come. Let your will be done, as in heaven, so on earth. Give us day by day our daily bread. Forgive us our sins, for we ourselves also forgive everyone who is indebted to us. Bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.' (WEB, Luke 11:2-4)
You asked the Lord to teach you a biblical perspective on debt. Owe no one anything, except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law. (WEB, Romans 13:8) For the commandments, "You shall not commit adultery," "You shall not murder," "You shall not steal," "You shall not give false testimony," "You shall not covet," and whatever other commandments there are, are all summed up in this saying, namely, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." Love doesn't harm a neighbor, so love is the fulfillment of the law. (WEB, Romans 13:9-10) We can the relate debt to the Jerusalem church. Behold, how these Christians, in Judea and Jerusalem, loved their neighbors by selling their personal possessions and paying off the debt of poverty for their brothers and sisters. Neither was there among them any who lacked, for as many as were owners of lands or houses sold them, and brought the proceeds of the things that were sold, and laid them at the apostles' feet, and distribution was made to each, according as anyone had need. And a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira, his wife, sold a possession (WEB, Acts 4:34-35).
God wants us to be free from the bondage of debt so that we can serve Him wholly and freely. Therefore, we join you in prayer for deliverance from debt. And when they had prayed the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the Word of God with boldness. (WEB, Acts 4:31).
Heavenly Father, we come before You, lifting up Aelith, seeking Your divine intervention and financial wisdom. You are a gracious and loving God, full of compassion and mercy. Forgive Aelith's financial mistakes and grant deliverance from debt. Guide Aelith in Your Kingdom principles, providing a practical plan to repay what is owed and avoid future debt. Heal the root cause of chronic debt and overspending, and help Aelith to trust in Your promises. Aelith is indeed more than a conqueror in Christ Jesus. In Jesus' name, we pray.
Be encouraged, dear Aelith, for Jesus has said, and Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible. (WEB, Mark 10:27) So, fix your eyes on the Lord, trust in His promises, and walk in His ways. As you seek Him and His righteousness, the Lord will guide you and provide for you.
