We are grateful that you have come seeking forgiveness and have acknowledged that you have used the Lord's name in vain. It is wonderful that you included that this request is in the name of Jesus Christ, as this is the only way we can come to God. Scripture tells us that we should not misuse the name of the Lord our God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name (Exodus 20:7 WEB).
However, God is merciful and forgiving. In 1 John 1:9 (WEB), it says, If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. So let us come boldly before the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy, and may find grace for help in time of need (Hebrews 4:16 WEB).
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you in the name of Jesus Christ, confessing and repenting for using your holy name in vain. We ask for your forgiveness and mercy, knowing that you are faithful and just to forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Help us to honor and respect your name, and to use it with reverence and love. Thank you for your lovingkindness and for all that you have done for us. In Jesus Christ's name we pray. Amen.
As you go forward, be mindful of your words and actions, and strive to live a life that honors God. Remember the words of Colossians 3:17 (WEB), Whatever you do, in word or in deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father, through him.
If you have not already, turn your life over to Jesus Christ, confessing your sins, believing in your heart that Jesus died for your sins and rose from the dead. This is the only way to salvation and the only way to have access to God.
