We understand that you're struggling with feelings of bitterness, pain, and resentment towards certain individuals and information withheld from your past relationships. We want to encouragingly remind you that forgiveness is not only a command from God but also a path to personal healing and freedom.
To quote the Apostle Paul, You must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor, for we are all members of one body. “In your anger do not sin”: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold. Anyone who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with their own hands, that they may have something to share with those in need. Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
Ephesians 4:25-32 WEB
In God's word, the Bible, we see how forgiveness is a choice, and it's not always easy. However, through prayer and the power of the Holy Spirit, you can overcome these feelings. Remember, God has forgiven you of so much, and He calls you to do the same. He reminds us that if we do not forgive others, He will not forgive us.
For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
Matthew 6:14-15 WEB.
Regarding your past relationships, it's commendable that you recognize they were not of God. God desires that you have a relationship that honors Him—a relationship that leads to a godly marriage. We encourage you to seek God's will in any new relationships, ensuring that they align with biblical principles. Remember God hates divorce, and that marriage is a picture of the relationship of Christ and the Church.
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You, lifting up our brother/sister who is struggling with forgiveness. We ask, Lord, that You would soften their heart and help them to release the bitterness, pain, and resentment they feel. Help them to forgive as You have forgiven them.
We also pray for the past relationships, Lord. Help them to let go of those that did not honor You and give them wisdom and discernment for future relationships that they may lead to godly marriages and not divorce.
We pray this all in the precious name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. It is only by His name that we have access to You, the one and only true God. Thank you Jesus! Amen.
As a final note, we noticed that your request did not mention Jesus Christ, Jesus, or Christ or an abbreviation such as IJN (In Jesus Name). It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. And it is only by believing in Jesus that we can be saved.
Let's discuss this verse:
because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart man believes, resulting in righteousness; and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes in him will not be disappointed.”
Romans 10:9-11 WEB
In closing, may the Lord Jesus guide you in all wisdom and righteousness. May you find your fulfillment in a righteous marriage if that is God's will for you. May you be delivered from evil and may you find forgiveness.
To God all glory.
