We are grateful that you have come forward with this struggle, and we want you to know that you are not alone. First, let's address the issue of forgiveness. We are all sinners, and God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins when we confess them to Him. As it is written in 1 John 1:9 WEB: "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
Looking at inappropriate sexual material is sinful and harmful. It is important to acknowledge this and the damage it causes to one's relationship with God, as well as to personal purity and potentially to others. This sin is called lust. As Jesus said in Matthew 5:28 WEB: "But I tell you that everyone who looks at a woman to lust after her has already committed adultery with her in his heart."
Now, let us pray for you:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You, lifting up this beloved one who has humbly confessed their sin to You. Lord, we ask for Your forgiveness and cleansing as promised in Your Word. Help them to turn away from this sin and to walk in purity and self-control, guided by the Holy Spirit. Strengthen them in their walk with You, and give them the power to resist temptation. Help them to anchor themselves in Jesus Christ. Help them to fix their eyes on Him, the author and perfecter of their faith. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to take practical steps to overcome this struggle. Install accountability software on your devices. Becoming accountable to a Christian brother or sister, having a Christian mentor, and regular church fellowship can be good for support. Seek out Christian counseling if needed.
Flee from sexual immorality. As it is written in 1 Corinthians 6:18 WEB: "Flee sexual immorality! 'Every sin that a man does is outside the body,' but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body."
Remember, God has called us to holiness. As it is written in 1 Thessalonians 4:3-5 WEB: "For this is the will of God: your sanctification, that you abstain from sexual immorality, that each one of you know how to possess himself of his own vessel in sanctification and honor, not in the passion of lust."
Lastly, it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. It is important to come to God confessing the name of Jesus. Furthermore, it is only by the name of Jesus that one can be saved. As it is written in Acts 4:12 WEB: "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved.
