We commend you for your heart of forgiveness and your desire to reconcile with others as far as it depends on you.
Forgiveness is a central theme in Scripture, and Jesus himself taught us to pray, Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. Our Heavenly Father doesn't forgive us because we have forgiven others, but He does forgive us in like manner. If we don't forgive, then, we jeopardize our own forgiveness. This is clearly shown in Matthew 6:12, 14 and 15 And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you don’t forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
In Ephesians 4:31 it says:
Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ Jesus forgave you.
As is recorded in Romans 12:18:
If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men
We see all through scripture that the onus is on us to be right with others as much as it depends on us. God doesn't expect us to put ourselves in harms way. It is biblical to choose not to associate with people who are a danger to us even after we have forgiven them. It is wise to set boundaries, and this is this not a lack of forgiveness.
God calls us to forgive others, but He does not require us to put ourselves in harm's way. Proverbs 22:24-25 says Do not befriend a hot-tempered person, do not associate with one easily angered, or you may learn their ways and get yourself ensnared.
We rejoice with you as you confess your sins and repent. This is our instruction from God in 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Let us pray together for those who have hurt you, that they too may find repentance and forgiveness in Jesus' name and thank God for you forgiving and repenting.
Father God, we bring our hearts to You today, asking forgiveness from You, not only for ourselves but for those who have harmed us. We pray for those who have sinned against us, intentionally or unintentionally, and we release them from the debts they owe us. We recognize in ourselves, our tendency to offend others as well and pray for God’s forgiveness in our lives. Your word states it is required of your saints that you live in peace, “as far as it depends” upon us. We can’t always resolve every difference but we should try when its possible and especially with our brothers in the faith. God help us to give extra effort when dealing with other Christians when addressing differences in a manner worthy of Jesus that we have learned from your word, expressing thankfulness for the desire given to the forgiveness given us by others with the scriptures on our lips that supplies the ready words for us.. Amen. Thank you Lord Jesus, for coming in the flesh to be our propitiation for our sins that your Father placed upon you for us to be crucified for and also that He raised you back to life, thus redeeming our spiritual lives forever from the pit of destruction back to a spiritual place where we could always be forgiven by your Father no longer enslaved by sinful rules or teachings that bound us without faith. Hallelujah! for for the LORD has laid on Jesus, the iniquity of us all, Hallelujah that what Jesus did in giving his life on earth restores our spiritual hope and life and praise for You Jesus!
