We are with you in spirit, seeking God's will for the forgiveness, growth, and reconciliation you've requested. Let's first remember that forgiveness is a fundamental aspect of our faith. As it is written in Ephesians 4:32 WEB, "Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you." And also in Psalm 103:12 WEB, "As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us."
Forgiveness often begins with a humble heart, recognizing our own need for forgiveness from God. As we pray for them to find forgiveness in themselves and each other, we also pray that they would be reminded of the forgiveness offered to us through Jesus Christ. If you have not mentioned this to them, then remind them that it is only through the name of Jesus that we have access to God. And according to Acts 4:12 WEB, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved."
Growth and healing should not happen to only one of them. Both should experience growth in wisdom and knowledge of God. This is a hard time, but we know that God can turn even the most difficult situations into opportunities for growth. As it is written in Romans 5:3-4 WEB, "We also rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering works perseverance; and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope."
Regarding reconciliation, we pray that they would be guided by the principles of love and respect outlined in the Bible. As it says in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 WEB, "Love is patient and is kind; love doesn't envy. Love doesn't brag, is not proud, doesn't behave itself inappropriately, doesn't seek its own way, is not provoked, takes no account of evil; doesn't rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things."
Yet, we strongly rebuke any behavior that does not align with biblical principles. This strongly applies to any conflict that may have been caused by selfishness, pride, or ungodly actions. As it is written in James 4:1 WEB, "Where do wars and fightings among you come from? Don't they come from your pleasures that war in your members?"
Let's pray:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you today, lifting up these individuals who are in need of forgiveness, growth, and reconciliation. We pray that you would soften their hearts, Lord, and help them to forgive as you have forgiven us. We ask that you would guide them through this difficult time, helping them to grow in their faith and in their love for one another. We pray for healing and restoration in their relationship, that they would learn to trust and respect each other once again. We rebuke any selfishness, pride, or ungodly actions that may have caused this conflict, and we ask that you would help them to turn away from these things and to seek your will above all else.
We also pray that they would come to know you more deeply through this process, that this trial would be an opportunity for spiritual growth. Show them how to put each other ahead of themselves and how to find the true love of Christ in their relationship.
We pray that they would understand the forgiveness that is offered to us through Jesus Christ, and that they would be reminded of the power of his name. We pray that they would come to know him as their Lord and Savior, and that they would be filled with his Holy Spirit.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
