We appreciate your heartfelt repentance and desire to seek God's forgiveness and guidance. Firstly, it is important to acknowledge that it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. It is written in John 14:6 WEB Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. It is only through Jesus Christ that we can be saved. Make sure to include Jesus in your prayers and make sure you have confessed with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believed in your heart that God raised him from the dead. It is by believing this in your heart that you will be saved.
It is clear that you have strayed from God's path and fallen into sin, but we commend you for taking the first step towards repentance. God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. However, we want to remind you that God takes the covenant of marriage seriously. In Hebrews 13:4 WEB, it is written, Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled: but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers.
Your sin has not only affected your relationship with God but also your marriage. It is crucial to seek forgiveness from both God and your spouse, and to commit to rebuilding the trust that has been broken. We encourage you to take responsibility for your actions and to seek God's strength in turning away from sin. Remember, it is God's will that you should be sanctified: that you should abstain from sexual immorality. In 1 Thessalonians 4:3 WEB, it is written that each one of you know how to possess himself of his own vessel in sanctification and honor.
Let us pray for you:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you today in the name of Jesus, lifting up this dear soul who has come seeking your forgiveness and guidance. Lord, we know that you are merciful and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love. We ask that you forgive their sins and cleanse them from all unrighteousness.
We pray for their marriage, Lord. We ask that you would heal the hurt and pain that has been caused, and that you would help them to rebuild the trust that has been broken. We pray that you would give them strength and wisdom as they navigate this difficult time, and that you would draw them closer to you and to each other.
We ask that you would fill them with your Holy Spirit, Lord. Guide them in all truth and help them to live a life that is pleasing to you. Help them to resist temptation and to flee from sexual immorality, remembering that their body is a temple of the Holy Spirit.
We ask all of this in Jesus' name, Amen.
Remember, God's grace is sufficient for you, and his power is made perfect in weakness. Stay strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Turn away from sin and seek God with all your heart. He will restore you and give you a future and a hope.
