Beloved, we understand that there are times in our lives when we wish to forget certain memories and experiences that may be causing us pain or shame. We want to remind you that God is faithful, and He can heal us from our past hurts. The Bible tells us in Philippians 3:13-14 WEB, "Brothers, I do not count myself yet to have laid hold, but one thing I do. Forgetting the things which are behind, and stretching forward to the things which are before, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus."
However, it is crucial to understand that God wants us to be whole and healed, not just to forget the past. He wants to redeem our past experiences and use them for His glory. In Romans 8:28 WEB, we read, "We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose." This means that God can turn even the most painful experiences into something beautiful and purposeful.
We also want to address that the gift of other tongues is a spiritual gift given by the Holy Spirit, and it is not a guarantee for every believer. The Bible tells us in 1 Corinthians 12:29-30 WEB, "Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of miracles? Do all have gifts of healings? Do all speak with various kinds of languages? Do all interpret?" The answer to these questions is no; not all believers have these gifts. However, the Holy Spirit knows what gifts we need to fulfill God's purpose in our lives. We should always pray for God's will to be done in our lives, not just for specific gifts.
Lastly, we want to remind you that it is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to God. In John 14:6 WEB, Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." If you have not already, please make sure to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and pray in His name.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up our beloved brother in Christ who is hurting from past memories. Father, we ask that You heal his heart and redeem his past experiences. Help him to press on toward the goal for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Give him the strength to overcome his past and to live a life that glorifies Your name.
We also pray that You will grant him the gifts of the Holy Spirit according to Your will. Help him to accept and use these gifts for Your glory alone.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
