We understand your concern and we stand with you in prayer for your husband. We will pray for the bondage of alcohol to be broken and for him to put God first and join you in church.
First, we must acknowledge that drinking alcohol in excess is condemned in the Bible. "Don't be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit." (Ephesians 5:18)
We also read in 1 Corinthians 6:12, "All things are lawful for me, but not all things are expedient. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of anything."
Rebuking him from his habit of drinking alcohol, but we also call him to fill his life with the Holy Spirit. We encourage him to replace his desire for alcohol with a hunger and thirst for righteousness. "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled." (Matthew 5:6)
Let us pray together.
Almighty God, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, interceding on behalf of this dear sister's husband. Lord, we pray that You will deliver him from the bondage of alcohol. Take away his desire and taste for it, Lord. Help him to put You first in his life and to seek Your will above his own. Draw him to Your house, Lord, and give him a hunger and thirst for Your righteousness. May He be filled with Your Holy Spirit and live a life pleasing to You.
Lord Jesus, open his heart to Your love and transform his life by Your grace and power. We thank You for answering our prayers in Jesus Christ's name. Amen.
We encourage you to continue praying for your husband and to be a godly example to him. Show him the love of Christ and encourage him to seek God's will for his life. We also encourage you to speak the truth in love to him about his drinking and to be patient with him as God works in his life.
Remember, "For I know the plans that I have for you, says Yahweh, plans for peace, and not for evil, to give you hope and a future." (Jeremiah 29:11)
Trust in God's promises and remain faithful in prayer.
