We understand that you're seeking reconciliation and understanding in a personal relationship where there has been no contact for an extended period. Firstly, we want to remind you that God desires for us to live in harmony with one another. As it is written in Romans 12:18, "If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men."
However, we want to caution you that if this relationship is one that does not align with biblical principles, such as a relationship where there was fornication or other immoral behavior, then it is not a godly relationship. God wants us to flee from sexual immorality as stated in 1 Corinthians 6:18. "Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body." If this relationship was with someone of the same sex, this is also called sin and not in alignment with a biblical relationship. 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 states, "Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor extortioners, will inherit the Kingdom of God."
If the relationship was a godly relationship, remember that reconciliation requires humility and forgiveness. Colossians 3:13 reminds us to bear with one another and forgive each other. "Forbearing one another, and forgiving each other, if any man has a complaint against any; even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye."
Let's pray together:
"Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, seeking Your will for this relationship to come back together. Lord, if it is Your will, we pray for reconciliation and understanding. We ask that You soften the hearts of both parties and open the lines of communication. But we also ask for discernment on behalf of the one praying, if this is not a relationship that honors God. Help them to be obedient to Your will in all things.
Most importantly, help them to understand that they can only approach you by the blood of Jesus Christ. It is in Jesus' name we pray."
And finally let us remember that Jesus said in John 14:6 "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." Jesus is the one mediator between God and men and the only way to God and salvation. If you are not sure you are saved, call on Jesus to be your Lord and Savior and call on him in prayer.
