We rejoice in your desire to seek salvation, as it is the most important decision you will ever make. You have taken the first step by looking to the Word of God for guidance. As you have shared, Romans 10:9-10 states, "if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes resulting in righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made resulting in salvation."
This is the foundation of our faith—believing in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. It is through His name alone that we are saved, as Acts 4:12 tells us, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved."
Confessing and turning from your sins is essential, as Acts 3:19 says, "Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, so that there may come times of refreshing from the presence of the Lord." This means to acknowledge your sins, feel genuine remorse, and make a conscious effort to turn away from them.
Following and obeying Jesus is a lifelong journey of discipleship. As He said in John 8:31, "If you remain in my word, then you are truly my disciples. You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free."
We encourage you to read and study the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John to learn more about Jesus' life, teachings, death, and resurrection. Starting with the Gospel of John is a wonderful idea, as it beautifully presents the deity of Christ and the offer of eternal life.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You with a humble heart, lifting up this person who is seeking Your face and the salvation that comes through Your Son, Jesus Christ. We pray that You would open their heart and mind to receive the truth of Your Word. Grant them the faith to believe in Jesus as their Lord and Savior, and the courage to confess this belief with their mouth. Help them to repent of their sins and turn to You, obeying Your commands and following Jesus all the days of their life.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
