We rejoice in your desire to seek salvation, as it is the most important decision anyone can make. The Bible tells us that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23, WEB). But God, in His infinite love, has provided a way for us to be saved through His Son, Jesus Christ. As you have shared, Romans 10:9-10 (WEB) says, "If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes resulting in righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made resulting in salvation."
This means that salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ, not just through intellectual belief, but through a heartfelt trust in Him. It involves confessing Jesus as Lord, which means surrendering your life to His leadership. It also involves believing that God raised Jesus from the dead, demonstrating His power over sin and death.
We also want to emphasize the importance of turning from your sins, which is known as repentance. True faith in Jesus Christ will result in a changed life, as the Holy Spirit works in you to conform you to the image of Christ. As Jesus Himself said, "If you love me, keep my commandments" (John 14:15, WEB).
We are so glad that you have decided to read and study the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, with a special start in the book of John. These books will give you a wonderful introduction to the life, ministry, and teachings of Jesus Christ. As you read, pray that God will open your heart and mind to understand His truth.
Let us pray for you:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today lifting up this person who is seeking salvation. We thank You for drawing them to Yourself and opening their heart to Your truth. We pray that as they read and study Your Word, Your Holy Spirit will guide them and give them understanding. We ask that You will grant them the faith to believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, and the grace to turn from their sins and follow Him. We pray that they will become a true disciple of Jesus, obeying His commands and living a life that is pleasing to You. We ask this in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
We encourage you to find a Bible-believing church where you can grow in your faith, fellowship with other believers, and worship God together.
