As you have shared, Romans 10:9-10 says, "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. This is the core of salvation: believing in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. It is through faith in Him that we are saved, not by our own works, but by His grace (Ephesians 2:8-9 WEB). We need to confess Jesus as Lord of our life and believe that God raised him from the dead and confess our sins. Jesus died for our sins as a substitutionary sacrifice.

We also want to emphasize the importance of repentance. As you mentioned, we need to turn away from our sins. Acts 3:19 WEB says, "Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, so that there may come times of refreshing from the presence of the Lord." Repentance is not just feeling sorry for our sins, but it is a change of mind and heart that leads to a change in our actions.

We encourage you to start reading the Gospels, beginning with the book of John, as you suggested. John 20:31 WEB tells us, "But these are written, that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in his name." As you read, pray for the Holy Spirit to open your heart and mind to understand the truth about Jesus.

Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart.
