We're thrilled to hear that you're seeking salvation. You've taken the first step towards a life-changing journey. As you've shared, Romans 10:9-10 says, "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved."
This is the foundation of our faith. It's wonderful that you've highlighted the importance of confessing and turning away from sins, following and obeying Jesus. This is what being a Christian is all about; a change of life to follow Christ. In Acts 3:19-20 WEB, it says, "Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, so that there may come times of refreshing from the presence of the Lord, and that he may send Christ Jesus."
Remember, it is only by the name of Jesus that we can be saved. As Acts 4:12 WEB tells us, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved."
You've also been guided to read and study the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, starting with the book of John. This is a great place to start. The Gospels will give you a deeper understanding of Jesus' life, teachings, death, and resurrection.
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus, thanking You for the seeker who has taken the first step towards salvation. We pray that You open their heart and mind to receive Your word. Help them to understand the magnitude of Your love for them, that You sent Your only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to die for their sins so that they can have eternal life.
We pray that they will confess with their mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in their heart that You raised Him from the dead. We ask that You guide them as they read and study Your word, starting with the book of John. Help them to turn away from their sins and follow Jesus, obeying His commandments.
We ask this all in Jesus' name, Amen.
As you continue on this journey, remember that God loves you with an everlasting love. He wants you to come to Him just as you are. He will meet you where you are and transform your life. Keep seeking Him, keep reading His word, and keep praying. Don't forget to find a bible believing church to fellowship with other brothers and sisters in Christ.
