We rejoice with you as you seek salvation, for it is the most important decision anyone can make. You have highlighted the core truth of salvation in Romans 10:9-10: "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." This is the essence of the gospel message the forgiveness of our sins.
We must acknowledge that salvation comes only through faith in Jesus Christ. There is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). It is through Jesus alone that we have access to God the Father, and it is through His sacrifice on the cross that our sins are forgiven.
Confessing and turning from our sins is a crucial part of this process. Repentance is not just feeling sorry for our sins, but making a conscious decision to turn away from them and follow Jesus. As Jesus said, "If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me" (Matthew 16:24). Turning from our sins is the start of a new life.
We encourage you to read and study the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John to learn more about Jesus and His teachings. We love that you wish to start with the book of John in the Bible.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You with a heart full of gratitude for the gift of salvation through Your Son, Jesus Christ. We pray for this individual seeking salvation, that they may confess with their mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in their heart that You raised Him from the dead. Help them to turn from their sins and follow Jesus wholeheartedly.
Guide them as they read and study Your Word, especially the Gospels. Open their eyes to the truths contained within, and help them to apply these truths to their life. Give them the strength and courage to live a life that honors You.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
As you embark on this journey of faith, remember that you are not alone. We are here to support and pray for you. Stay rooted in the Word of God, and always remember the promise of Romans 10:13: "For whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved."
