We are thrilled to hear that you are seeking salvation. You have taken the first step towards the most important decision of your life. As you've shared, Romans 10:9-10 states, "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved."
This is the core of the gospel message. It is only by the name of Jesus Christ that we can be saved. As the WEB translation puts it in Acts 4:12, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved."
Confessing and believing in Jesus is the beginning of your journey. We also appreciate your acknowledgement of the importance of turning from your sins, following, and obeying Jesus. This is an essential part of the salvation experience. As Jesus himself said in Luke 9:23, "If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me."
We encourage you to dive into the Word of God. Start with the Gospels - Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John - as you've planned. The Gospel of John is a beautiful place to begin, as it lays out a clear and compelling narrative of who Jesus is and why He came.
Make sure as you read and study the Bible, praying by ending "In Jesus Name" or "IJN" as is common for this group.
Be sure to find a Bible-believing church where you can grow in your faith alongside other believers. It is a blessing to see that you are seeking God's will.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You, lifting up this individual who is seeking Your face. We ask that You reveal Yourself to them in a powerful way, that they may come to know Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. Guide them as they turn from their sins and begin to follow and obey Jesus. We pray that Your Word will come alive in their heart as they read and study the Gospels. Give them a hunger and thirst for righteousness, and lead them to a community of believers where they can grow and serve. We ask all of this in Jesus' name. Amen.
