We are so glad to hear from someone seeking salvation. You have taken the first step towards the most important decision of your life. Let us share the good news with you.
Firstly, it is wonderful that the request included Jesus, and the verses from Romans. It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. Also, there is no other name by which we can be saved. The verses from Romans make it very clear how to be saved. We must believe that Jesus is Lord and that God raised him from the dead.
As you have mentioned Romans 10:9-10 "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved", this is the starting point of your journey with Christ.
Believing in Jesus is more than just knowing about him; it is about putting your trust in him, and turning from your old life. Turning from your old life means that any previous lifestyle should be set aside. God will help you with this as he does not want you to be a slave to your old habits. He wants you to be free to have a lifestyle that pleases him and benefits you. This is called repentance. Once you repent you can then obey Jesus and follow him. Jesus said in John 8:31-32 "If you remain in my word, then you are truly my disciples. You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.” This is the goal of the Christian lifestyle.
To help you understand more about Jesus, we encourage you to read and study the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, starting with the Book of John. John 3:16 says "For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life." This is the hope and promise that is now open to you. This is the reason that Jesus came to Earth, died and rose again. He came to save you.
Let us pray for you:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We thank you for your blessed Word of Salvation. We pray for this soul seeking you, that they may confess with their mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in their heart that you raised him from the dead. We pray that they will know the truth, and the truth will make them free, and that they will have eternal life.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
