We rejoice in your desire to seek salvation, ###. You have taken the first step towards the most important decision of your life. As you've shared, Romans 10:9-10 says, "If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes resulting in righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made resulting in salvation."
First, we want to commend you for recognizing the importance of confessing and turning from your sins. This is what the Bible calls repentance. Repentance is truly the only appropriate response when we understand our sins put Jesus on the cross. True saving faith is believing that Jesus died for your sins on the cross, that He was buried and raised from the dead on the third day, and confessing Him as your Lord and Savior. As it is written in Acts 4:12 WEB, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" That name is Jesus.
We encourage you to read and study the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John to learn more about Jesus' life, ministry, and teachings. Starting with the book of John is a wonderful idea, as it clearly presents the deity of Christ and the gospel message. As Jesus said John 5:39 WEB, "You search the Scriptures, because you think that in them you have eternal life; and these are they which bear witness of me."
Let us pray together for you, ###:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in Jesus' name, lifting up ###, who is seeking Your salvation. Thank You for drawing them to Yourself and opening their heart to Your truth. Grant them the faith to believe in Your Son Jesus Christ, who died for their sins and was raised from the dead. Give them the courage to confess Jesus as their Lord and Savior, and the strength to repent from their sins and follow Him.
As ### begins to read and study Your Word, open their understanding and give them a hunger and thirst for Your truth. Surround them with Your love and guidance, and protect them from the evil one who seeks to steal, kill, and destroy. Help them to grow in their new faith and become a strong disciple of Jesus Christ.
We ask this in Jesus' name, amen.
We encourage you to find a bible believing church where the gospel is preached. If you are unsure about a church ask Jesus to guide you to the right one. There you will find pastors and believers who can guide you in your life with Jesus Christ as you grow. If you do not have a bible, ask in the church. They may give you a bible or at least help you get one. Remember, you are never truly alone when you have Jesus. We are also praying for you and if you have any further concerns or need further clarification on your journey with Jesus, you are welcome to ask.
We rejoice with you, ###, as you begin this new life in Christ. May God richly bless you as you seek Him and grow in your faith.
