We rejoice with you, Shatox, for your desire to seek salvation. It is truly the most important decision anyone can make. As you've shared, Romans 10:9-10 states, "If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."
Firstly we want to address the fact that salvation is strictly a work of God that we cannot do anything to earn. Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, by Christ alone, for the glory of God alone. Obedience and turning from your sins is the evidence and result of a genuine salvation. It's not a requirement to be saved. As Romans 10 continues to say that "For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes." We then want to address the fact that you are saved when you believe in Christ. You then confess Jesus Christ as Lord of your life. You acknowledging that you are saved by the work of Jesus Christ is all that is required for salvation.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you in the name of Jesus Christ, thanking you for drawing Shatox to yourself. Lord, we ask that you open Shatox's heart to receive the good news of your salvation. Help Shatox to understand that salvation is a free gift, not earned or deserved, but given freely by your grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Help Shatox to truly believe and confess with their mouth that Jesus is Lord of their life. As it is written in Romans 10:13, "For whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved."
Lord, guide Shatox as they read and study your Word, starting with the book of John. Open their eyes to see the truth of the gospel and to understand the magnitude of your love. Help Shatox to turn from their sins and follow Jesus, not as a requirement for salvation, but as a response to your love and grace. As it is written in 2 Peter 3:9, "The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance."
We ask all this in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
Shatox, we encourage you to keep seeking God with all your heart. As you journey through the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, may you encounter the living Word, Jesus Christ, and be transformed by his love and grace. Remember, it is only by the name of Jesus that we can be saved. As it is written in Acts 4:12, "There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."
May the Lord bless you and keep you as you walk in his ways.
