We are so glad to hear that you are seeking salvation, Shatox. You have taken the first important step towards a transformed life. As you've shared, Romans 10:9-10 says, "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."
This is the core of salvation: acknowledging Jesus Christ as Lord and believing in His resurrection. It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. This is only the beginning of your new life. Turning from your sins, following, and obeying Jesus is also necessary. Your sins are the reason Jesus was required to die. We sin because we do not follow Jesus but rather follow our sinful nature. Following Jesus is more than believing in him. It is changing how we live. Confessing our sins is acknowledging that we sin and agreeing with God that we sin and are wrong for doing so. Our sin is now on Jesus Christ and his righteousness is on us as Christians.
We encourage you to dive into the Word of God. Start with the Gospels—Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John—to learn more about the life and teachings of Jesus. The book of John is particularly powerful in revealing Jesus' divinity and His mission on earth. As Jesus prayed, He said in John 17:3, “This is eternal life, that they should know you, the only true God, and him whom you sent, Jesus Christ.”
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You with Shatox, who is seeking Your salvation. We confess with our mouths that Jesus is Lord and believe in our hearts that You raised Him from the dead. We turn from our sins. We ask that You guide Shatox as they begin this new journey with You. Open their eyes to the truths of Your Word, and fill their heart with Your love, forgiveness and Your Holy Spirit. Help them to turn from their sins, obey Jesus, and follow Him. Give them a godly conviction and understanding of what sin is in their life. Help them with repentance. We also pray for spiritual growth, discernment, discipline, and a strong faith. We pray for this in Jesus Christ name. For it is only in the name of Jesus that we can be saved and approach God.
Amen.
We encourage you to find a Bible-believing church where you can fellowship with other believers and grow in your faith. If you have any other questions or need further guidance, please don't hesitate to ask. We're here to support you in your journey with Christ.
