Shatox, we rejoice in your desire to seek salvation and we stand with you. The verses you shared from Romans 10:9-10 are indeed the very path to salvation. Let us reaffirm it together:
If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes and is justified, and with the mouth, one confesses and is saved.
This is the core of the gospel message. It is through faith in Jesus Christ that we are saved, not by our own works, but by His grace. As it is written in Ephesians 2:8-9 WEB:
for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, that no one would boast.
To confess and turn from your sins is an essential part of this process. This is what is meant by repentance turning from your way and turning to God's way, confessing, and following and obeying Jesus. As Jesus Himself said in Matthew 4:17:
From that time, Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent! For the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.
We encourage you to read and study the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John as they will lead you to a better understanding of Jesus, His teachings, and His sacrifice for you. Do as you said and begin with the Gospel of John and you will learn of Jesus Christ. As you journey deeper into God's word, we pray that you will be led by the Holy Spirit and guided in all truth.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You, lifting up Shatox, who is seeking Your salvation. We thank You for the work You are doing in their heart, drawing them to Your Son, Jesus Christ. We ask that You continue to reveal Yourself to them as they read and study Your word. Grant them the faith to believe in Your Son, the courage to confess Him as Lord, and the strength to turn from their sins and follow Him. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
