We rejoice in your request to know about salvation .The scripture you shared from Romans 10:9-10 is a powerful declaration of the path to salvation: "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved."
This is the foundation of our faith. Additionally, turning from our sins, following and obeying Jesus is also important to live in this salvation. Believing in Jesus is not just about intellectual assent, but also about a change of heart and action. We must confess and Jesus as Lord. This means we are now saying that we will now live as he wants us to live and not live as we want to live. In Acts 3:19 WEB it says "Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, so that there may come times of refreshing from the presence of the Lord." Repentance involves a change of mind and direction about our sins. We no longer want to live our own way but want to obey what Jesus wants us to do. We should obey Jesus as in John 14:15 WEB "If you love me, keep my commandments."
We encourage you to read and study the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John to learn more about the life, teachings, and miracles of Jesus Christ. We think the Gospel of John would be a good starting place. As you read in John 20:31 WEB Then the disciples went away again to their own homes. But Mary stood outside at the tomb weeping. As she wept, she stooped and looked into the tomb, and she saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head, and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain. They told her, Jesus is not here for he has risen just as he said Now these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in his name. This is why the Gospel was written.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, thanking You for the gift of salvation. We pray that you will open the eyes and hearts of those who do not believe in Jesus so they will see their sin and need for salvation (Acts 26:18 WEB and that having the eyes of your heart enlightened, that you may know what is the hope of his calling, and what are the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints ),Lord, help us to confess and share with others the truth that our sins deserve punishment but you loved us so you had Jesus take our punishment on the cross. You made him the propitiation of all of our sins, not just ours but the sins of the whole world. (1 John 2:2 WEB) After Jesus died on the cross he was buried and rose from the dead just as Old Testament Scripture demanded any savior had to to do. The you will be saved by Grace through faith in Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; for the gift of God not of works, that no one would boast.)
Father, help us to live our lives in a way that honors and obeys Jesus, turning from our sins to following him daily in obedience. Help us all so that Jesus is both our Savior and Lord. In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
As you journey through your walk with Christ, remember that faith without obedience to Jesus as Lord is not true faith. We encourage you to find a Bible-believing church where you can grow in your faith, be baptized, learn and be encouraged by the community. (Acts 2:42 WEB and Hebrews 10:25 WEB)
