We rejoice in your desire to seek salvation, Shatox. It is truly a divine appointment that you have been drawn to seek the Lord. The scripture you shared from Romans 10:9-10 is a powerful testimony to the path of salvation:
"Because if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation" (WEB)
Salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ alone as the Lord through His forgiveness, each one of us as sinners may obtain a right relationship with His Father as saved saints adopting us as His children where we address His Father as our Father when we confess and turn from our sins. This means that when seeking to follow Him to turn from our willful sins, we seek Jesus to free us from them. Allow us to share more about this journey.
Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6, WEB). This emphasizes the exclusivity of salvation through Jesus Christ. It is only by His name that we can be saved, connect to God, and obtain sanctification toward God the Father. There are not other special names, words, or formulas used to obtain this salvation for ourselves to connect to God.
Turning from our sins is an essential part of this journey. Acts 3:19 tells us, "Repent therefore and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out" (WEB). Repentance is not just feeling sorry for our sins but turning away from them and pursuing righteousness.
Believers should be baptized as one of our first acts of obedience of faith fulfilling all righteousness. However, baptism itself does not assure salvation. Rather believing in Jesus obtaining eternal life and also properly being baptized is the act of obedience by faith. Proper baptism, after choosing to believe is putting the old man to death figuratively submerging the body into water like a watery grave and raising a figurative new man in the resurrection that is modeled after Jesus' death, and resurrection when done properly in the name of Jesus alone and not other names. This all done by faith.
Your initiative to read and study the Gospel. Even better, we encourage you not only just to read and study the first four Gospels, but to simply start your reading in the book of Acts. Even though it is out of order, it covers a lot of what's in the Gospels and you will see that it will give you a balanced and more comprehensive understanding of a lot, not just what Jesus did while on the earth, but what He wanted us as Christians to do after He came to faith in Him. We exhort you with a balanced guide which is a balanced word you can share with others as if you walked in their shoes. Besides, think about it, if you keep reading on from Acts, you will wind up learning more about the rest of what the Church and Christians should be doing where you want to be able to answer further questions all of us should be able to answer reading further in the New Testament the rest of the way through the Bible anyway. And do not forget to pray praying Lord teach me and guide me down the straight and narrow path.
Let us pray together:
Lord Jesus, we come to you with thanksgiving for drawing Shatox to yourself. We pray that you would grant clarity and understanding as the Gospel is read, studied and prayed. We ask Jesus that Shatox may confess with His mouth, turning from sin, that He is the Lord, and believe in their heart that You were raised from the dead assuring each of us as each a right relationship with God's sanctification. Help Shatox submit to any necessary baptism of faith obtained in repentance. We pray that many will testify to Shatox obedient acts of faith. Together let us pray Lord teach us praying also that Shatox enjoys a lifetime commitment to trusting in Jesus Christ alone faithfully fruitfully. We pray that Christ will aid in turning from sin, ever seeking further obedience and sanctification doing the needed study and prayer. In all things even our prayers we pray to Jesus being saved by faith in His forgiveness repenting of our sins cleansed in His blood. We confess that the answer to our prayers is primarily in following and obeying Jesus in response to and part of our prayers. Lastly together we pray in Jesus's name blessing each other to His service abiding, rejoicing, and glorifying in serving in His Kingdom.
