We are truly sorry to hear about your father's struggle with insomnia. Let us remind us sleep is a gift from God, as it is written in Psalm 127:2, "It is vain for you to rise up early, to stay up late, eating the bread of toil; for he gives sleep to his beloved."
First, let us address the use of sleeping pills. While they may seem like a quick solution, they do not address the root cause of insomnia. Moreover, the use of such medications is not encouraged unless absolutely necessary and prescribed by a doctor. As the Bible says about wine, we should be careful not to use them excessively. The verses discuss wine but it is the same concept with sleeping pills. We should not be using them to excess. We should not be using them to excess. It is written in Proverbs 23:20-21, "Do not be among ones who drink too much wine, nor those who gorge themselves on meat; for the drunkard and the glutton shall become poor, and drowsiness clothes them in rags."
Instead, let us turn to God in prayer, seeking His healing and comfort. We should be careful not to rely on medications instead of God's power, knowing that He is the ultimate healer.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up our beloved father to You. You know his struggles with insomnia, and You see his need for restful sleep. Lord, we ask for Your healing touch upon him. Help him to find peace and rest in You, for You are the source of our strength and renewal.
Father, we claim Your promise in Psalm 4:8, "I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep; for you, Lord, alone make me live in safety." Help our dear father to lie down in peace and sleep, knowing that You are watching over him.
Also we pray these scriptures over ourselves and others reading this. In His Word, we are encouraged to meditate on God's word and promises. Let us trust in Him, knowing that He is faithful to His promises. It is written in Psalm 119:148, "My eyes stay open through the night watches, that I might meditate on your word." May we find peace and comfort in meditating on God's word.
Lord, we also ask for Your guidance and wisdom for the medical professionals treating our father. Give them discernment and understanding, that they may provide the best care possible.
Finally, Father, we ask that You draw our father closer to You during this time. Help him to know Your love and presence in a deeper way, and may this trial serve to strengthen his faith in You.
We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. For it is written in Acts 4:12, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" It is only by His name that we have access to You O God. If anyone wants to be saved, they must believe that Jesus is the son of God, died on the cross, and was resurrected to be seated at the right hand of God, your Heavenly Father. This is the basic salvation message mentioned in the Bible, as written in John 3:16, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life." We are saved by grace alone through faith in Christ alone.
Amen.
While waiting for God's intervention, let us encourage our father to maintain a healthy lifestyle, avoid stressful activities before bed, and trust in God's care. Remind him that God is faithful, and He will provide the rest and healing our father needs.
If the insomnia persists, it may be wise to consult with a healthcare provider to rule out any underlying medical conditions. However, our ultimate trust should be in God, for He is the one who heals all our diseases.
