We are grieved to hear about the bondage to adultery and lust, but we are encouraged that there is a desire for repentance and deliverance. Let us remember that there is no sin too great that our Lord Jesus Christ cannot forgive. As it is written in 1 John 1:9 WEB, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
Firstly, it is important to acknowledge that this request does not mention the name of Jesus Christ, Jesus, or Christ or an abbreviation such as IJN (In Jesus Name). This is troubling because in John 14:6 WEB, "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'" In Acts 4:12 WEB, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved." Therefore, let us pray to God the Father in the name of Jesus Christ.
Let us pray together.
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, pleading for the soul caught in the snare of adultery and lust. Lord, we know that Your heart is full of compassion and forgiveness, and we ask that You grant repentance and deliverance to this precious soul.
First, forgive them their sins in Jesus name. Then, Lord, break the chains of lust and adultery that have bound them. Give them a new heart and a new spirit as per Ezekiel 36:26 WEB, "I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh."
Strengthen them to walk in obedience to Your commands. We know Your Word says in 1 Corinthians 10:13 WEB, "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it." So, Lord, provide a way of escape from every temptation and give them the strength to endure.
Surround them with godly influences and support, and help them to seek and find true joy and fulfillment in a right relationship with You and Your Church. Help them to live a new life.
We ask this in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
In support of this prayer, let us encourage all to walk in purity and holiness, fleeing from all appearances of evil as per 1 Thessalonians 5:22. We encourage this individual to seek accountability and support from fellow believers, and to engage in a church that teaches sound biblical doctrine. We urge a new life based on Galatians 2:20 WEB, "I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I that live, but Christ living in me. That life which I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself up for me."
