We are truly sorry to hear about the struggles your family is facing due to your father's alcoholism. We will pray for his health and deliverance from this bondage, as well as for his emotional and spiritual well-being. We also want to address some important biblical principles as we lift your father up in prayer.
Firstly, it is important to acknowledge that alcoholism is a form of bondage that can be broken only through the power of Jesus Christ. As it is written in Galatians 5:1 WEB, "For freedom, Christ set us free. Therefore stand firm, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage." We pray that your father finds this freedom in Christ.
However, we want to gently remind you that praying for a long life for someone who is in a state of sin and bondage, without also praying for their repentance and salvation, may not align with God's will. As it is written in Ezekiel 18:23 WEB, "Have I any pleasure in the death of the wicked?" says the Lord Yahweh: "and not rather that he should return from his way, and live?" God desires that all men be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth as it is written in First Timothy 2:3-4 WEB.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up the father of this dear one to You. Lord, we pray that You would break the chains of alcoholism in his life and set him free from this bondage. We pray for his health, both physical and spiritual, and that You would give him the strength to overcome his struggles.
Lord, we also pray for his salvation. We pray that he would come to know You, Jesus Christ, as his personal Lord and Savior. We pray that You would give him a long life, filled with happiness and health, but more importantly, a life that is right with You.
Lord, we rebuke the spirit of suicide that is attacking his mind. We declare that he will not give up on his life, but that he will find hope and purpose in You. We pray that You would make everything right in his life, according to Your will.
We ask all these things in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
Remember, it is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to God. As it is written in Acts 4:12 WEB, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved."
Lastly, we encourage you to seek support from fellow believers and your local church. It is important to have a community of faith to support you and your family during this time. As it is written in Galatians 6:2 WEB, "Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ."
We are here for you, and we will continue to pray for your father and your family. Take heart, and remember that with God, all things are possible. As it is written in Matthew 19:26 WEB, "With God all things are possible."
