"God blesses you who are hungry now, for you will be satisfied."

Luke 6:21a NLT

Key Thought

We all have hunger. Yes, we do have daily physical hunger, but that physical hunger should point us to a deeper hunger: We are hungry for God. Sometimes we try to find comfort in physical food to compensate for the hunger we feel in our souls. But, there is a place in each of us that longs for God, that hungers for his presence, and that yearns for his fullness. If we acknowledge our hunger for God, then we can be satisfied — he will come to us and make his home in us. [1]

[1] John 14:23; 1 Corinthians 3:16.

Today's Prayer

O Father, give me this day the daily bread I need for my body. In addition, dear Father, give me the living bread* of your presence that feeds my soul and sustains my life through Jesus being in my life. Help me recognize, dear Father, that I am hungry for you. Please, fill my emptiness, heal my brokenness, and feed my soul. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.

* John 6:35, 48-51.
