We are glad to hear that you are seeking the baptism of the Holy Spirit. In the book of Acts we find many examples of believers receiving the Holy Spirit and speaking in tongues, which is often referred to as the baptism of fire. As it is written in Acts 1:5 WEB John indeed baptized in water, but you will be baptized in the Holy Spirit not many days from now. And in Acts 2:3 WEB There appeared to them divided tongues, like fire, and it sat on each of them.
The Holy Spirit is a gift for those who have repented and believed in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. In Acts 2:38 WEB we find Peter's instructions of what to do in response to the gospel. Peter said to them, Repent, and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
We must remember that the Holy Spirit is a good gift from God and He is available to all believers. In Luke 11:13 we find Jesus teaching the disciples and He said to them, If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him, WEB. It is important to ask and believe that God will fill you.
Let us pray together for God's will concerning the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
Heavenly Father, we come before you in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. We ask that you fill this child of yours with the Holy Spirit. Send your fire to ignite a passion to live for you and speak for you. We ask for your will to be done and for an outpouring of your Spirit in their life. We rebuke any doubt or fear and claim the promise of your Spirit. We believe that you are sending your Spirit to fill them now, in Jesus name. And we are thankful that you have promised us your Holy Spirit, so we thank you for the gifts of your Spirit.
Now, let us encourage you to remember that the Holy Spirit is sent to empower you to be a witness for Jesus. As it says in Acts 1:8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you. You will be witnesses to me in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the uttermost parts of the earth, WEB.
The baptism of the Holy Spirit is an important part of the Christian walk and we encourage you to pursue it. If you have not truly believed and committed your life to Jesus Christ and that he rose from the dead, confessing him as Lord, then we urge you to do this first. In Romans 10:9 it says, because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. WEB.
