Disciple of Prayer
We are on a spot right now.

My husband has been unemployed since October of last year. But most of all he has severe arthritis in both of his knees. Since late November he has been jumping through hoops to try and get disability. He's in constant pain and struggles daily.

Today, he was informed that he was denied disability. I've been holding onto our home by personal loans with high interest rates to get by. We both have hospital bills to pay over $### each. Me from an ER trip in November and him having eyes surgery for cataracts.

I just took out a home equity loan to pay off higher interest rate loans I took. To save me money, but now that's apparently where this will now all be going.

He had tried to find a job in manufacturing, but finding one with his restrictions, having to sit, has been tough to come by.

I am the only one working right now and I am stuck holding on to the difference. The only thing he can't help with, the mortgage.

He keeps saying "the Lord will provide" but it gets tougher all the time.

He's going to fight and file an appeal. All we can do is hope.

Thanks for listening.

We are truly sorry to hear about the financial struggles and health challenges you and your husband are facing. Remember, God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we won't fear, though the earth changes, though the mountains are shaken into the heart of the seas (Psalm 46:1-2 WEB).

Firstly, it's commendable that your husband is trusting in the Lord and believing that He will provide. Indeed, the Lord is our provider, and He cares for us. As it is written, Therefore I tell you, don't be anxious for your life, what you will eat, or what you will drink; nor yet for your body, what you will put on. Isn't life more than food, and the body more than clothing? See the birds of the sky, that they don't sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns. Your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren't you of much more value than they? (Matthew 6:25-26 WEB).

However, along with faith, we must also act. Faith without works is dead (James 2:20 WEB). So, it's good that your husband is filing an appeal and seeking jobs within his physical limitations. As a wife, you are demonstrating the kind of support that God expects from a spouse. The two of you are a beautiful picture of a couple bearing one another's burdens, fulfilling the law of Christ (Galatians 6:2 WEB). Keep encouraging one another and build each other up (1 Thessalonians 5:11 WEB).

Now, let us pray together.

Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You, lifting up our sister and her husband, asking for Your divine intervention in their lives. Lord, You know their struggles, their pains, and their needs. You are the great I AM, and nothing is impossible for You.

Father, we pray for healing. Touch his knees, Lord, and make him whole. We also ask for Your guidance as they navigate through the disability appeal process. Open doors for a job that suits his physical condition, Lord. Provide for their needs according to Your riches in glory. Help them to manage their finances wisely and supernaturally stretch their resources to meet their needs.

Strengthen their faith, Lord. Help them to trust in You even more, casting all their anxieties on You, knowing that You care for them (1 Peter 5:7 WEB). Give them peace, Lord, the kind of peace that passes all understanding (Philippians 4:7 WEB). Surround them with Your love and let them find rest in You. In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.

We're standing with you in this tough time, sister. It's like you're walking through a storm, but remember, God is right there with you, holding your hand. He's seen your tears, heard your prayers, and He's not surprised by any of this.

We want to encourage you to keep trusting in the Lord. He sees your husband's pain and your struggle. He knows every detail, and He cares deeply. Even when it's hard to see, keep holding onto the promise in Psalm 34:18, "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit."

We're also praying for wisdom as you navigate through the disability appeal process and finding a job that suits your husband's condition. We believe that God will provide a way out, just as He always does (1 Corinthians 10:13).

Let's keep lifting each other up in prayer. Would you mind if we pray for you right now?

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
