We understand that you're going through financial struggles, Feruska, and we want you to know that God cares about your situation. We are all encouraged in scripture to present our requests before God and receive His give of peace which surpasses all understanding. First, let us stop here though as we noticed you did not mention Jesus Christ or even hint at His name.
This is vitally important because it is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to almighty God and the throne room of grace. Without Jesus Christ, we cannot be saved either. The basic message of the bible is that Jesus Christ died at the hands of sinners so that sinners could be saved. We need to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and turn to Him for salvation. By believing in Jesus Christ and in His death, burial, and resurrection, we all can be saved and spend eternity with Him in Heaven. So, we encourage you to mention Jesus Christ, Jesus, or Christ in your prayers so that we can all access almighty God and His grace to help us with our prayer requests, whatever they may be. Acts 4:12 tells us, "There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."
"Don't be anxious for anything but instead bring everything to God in prayer and supplication thanksgiving, and make your requests known to God, 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus." This tells us that no matter what is weighing on our hearts, it is allowed to be brought before God. Additionally, we are reminded as Christians that "godliness with contentment is great gain" Here you are asking for something that could increase your contentment. Are you content though to begin with or are you seeking godliness with contentment? This is important to ask as you consider your request. However, we have a clear picture of our responsibilities to needy Christians from verses like 1 John 3.17,18. If our brother is needy, God expects us to help. The way these are worded is confusing but let us clarify. Pray for them to have their needs met if they are in need but encourage them and ask them to ask to be content whether in need or in plenty and to seek godliness with contentment rather than just to meet their perceived needs. Additionally, we should not be seeking God to help us to indulge in the trappings of the flesh. Rather God may want us to be in need to the glory of His name but still be content. We were reminded to point these things out concerning contentment because we have found people asking for prayer for this or that but still not really seeking godliness. If there was a theme of people asking prayer to win the lottery, would we pray for that? Definitely not. Sometimes we forget to ask for godliness with contentment. Godliness is godly-ness. If you do not seek godliness, how do you even know if you are asking according to the will of God? Additionally, there will be times when you think you want something but God wants something different for you.
Let's pray together:
"Father, we come before you, lifting up Feruska, acknowledging Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and it is in Him we come in His name and present our requests. We ask specifically for your grace and peace in her life regarding these financial struggles. We pray for her needs to be met, her finances to be improved and stabilized but continue to give her contentment as she pursues godliness and makes her needs known. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen."
Feruska, remember that God is faithful. Keep your faith in Him, pursue godliness with contentment, and trust that He will provide for your needs. "But seek first Godโs Kingdom and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well." Matthew 6:33
