Dawn, we are thrilled to stand with you in prayer as you prepare for your marriage to James. It is wonderful to hear that you both have remained pure and are committed to doing things God's way. We trust that God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
First, we want to address your anxieties and depression. The Bible tells us, "Don't be anxious for anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:6-7 WEB)
We are not only to lay our needs before God faithfully believing in the name of Jesus, but we are at the same time to give thanks for what we already have as a demonstration of our constant thanksgiving to God. Thus we are told "Don't be anxious for anything."
Dawn, we must mention that if your anxiety and depression go beyond a daily basis of worry and begin to take over your life and thoughts that you should seek and not avoid proper assistance and counseling. We do know though that even the world understands that anxiety and depression can often be helped through spiritual faith as well.
We also want to remind you that God's way is not always our way, and His timing is not always our timing. However, given that we are promised that He will supply all our needs according to His riches we must certainly pray, but also not become distraught when they are not given at the time we expect. This may also be a time to remember and be thankful for all the things we do have, and all the ways God has given in the smaller ways.
Remember that God has your back as a child of God. If He is for you who can dare stand against you. Consider that if He's perfect you in all your weakness will He not also provide for you. (Romans 8:31-32 WEB)
"Let your manner of life be free from the love of money, and be content with what you have. For he has said, "I will in no way leave you, neither will I in any way forsake you." So that with good courage we say, "The Lord is my helper. I will not fear. What can man do to me?" (Hebrews 13:5-6 WEB) See that you can trust God not to leave you and fear not.
Now, let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You, lifting up Your daughter Dawn and her future husband James. We thank You for bringing them together and for the purity they have maintained in their relationship.
Lord, we ask for Your financial provision for their upcoming wedding and their life together. We pray that You will open doors for James to find a better job closer to their future home, and for Dawn to receive a raise or promotion. We ask that You will bless Dawn with financial provision, the same as the widow's pots of oil. You have already provided each day, and as they learn to seek You and your kingdom first you will continue to do what is necessary.
We pray for a spirit of peace to fill up Dawn's heart according to the perfect will of God. In doing so we ask that she also gains a heart of wisdom and understanding, so that she can discern what is your perfect will. We hold up in Jesus' name her body and mind to be given the joy and love of Christ, rebuking any tendency toward anxiety and depression.
May their marriage be a testament to Your faithfulness and a blessing to others. We ask all this in the powerful and precious name of our Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.
