"You're right! The term "Hebrew boys" is more accurate for Daniel and his friends, as they were from the tribe of Judah, part of the Hebrew people. Most translations use "Jew," but "Hebrew" is more historically accurate for that period. For an accurate description, you can refer to Daniel 1:6 which mentions Daniel (also called Belteshazzar), Hananiah (Shadrach), Mishael (Meshach), and Azariah (Abednego) as being from the tribe of Judah. They were chosen for their wisdom and understanding to serve in the king's palace."-CoPilot

The scriptures can still be taught correctly. I can recall as a child hearing older men refer to the boys in the Book of Daniel as the "Hebrew boys." Many Bible translations in America now require diligent study, as readers may need to cross out, challenge, or make corrections due to subtle changes made over the decades. After careful investigation, some Bibles are not worth picking up, and some are to be discarded entirely.

I've read the entire Old KJV Bible, which is very difficult for anyone without old English as their secondary language. The NLT bible. I threw this one out after reading its entirety. The NASB Study bible. This helped a lot but I still had to cross-reference and found some names and people changed. The error in this one is also Daniel 3:12 as they were not Jews, but Hebrew youths. NKJV Women's Study Bible is something I occasionally read though I have found many errors in this one. The additional notes for women are very helpful regarding being wives, modesty, reading scripture, and growing close to Christ. There are many other glowing readable footnotes in this translation.

Many translations have been altered to align with a specific narrative regarding Jews, which I find troubling. I choose to place my faith in Jesus Christ rather than solely in the word of God. I seek God's guidance in understanding His Holy Word, but this process requires a significant amount of discretion and discernment.

All of the following versions refer to Daniel and his friends as Jews, rather than accurately calling them Hebrews, as stated in Daniel 3:12.

The Peshitta Holy Bible translates "Judeans" as "Hebrews" or "Israelites." They use the name "Jehovah" for God instead of "Yahweh" or "Lord." I don’t use or study Latin, so I won’t refer to Jesus as Jehovah.

Peshitta Holy Bible Translated

Daniel 3:12 There are here men, Judeans, whom you have appointed over the affairs of the province of Babel: Shadrak, Mishak, and Abednego. Those men have not esteemed you, oh King, and they do not serve your god, and they do not worship the image of gold that you have set up!”
