Feeling helpless

I need prayer for my grandson ###. He is ### yrs old was doing good, going to church with me and siblings, respectful, helpful, just a great kid. I helped raise him and his siblings, his father left to start another family when he was ### lately he got in contact with him and it's all gone downhill from there, he started not listening to me, stopped going to church, never home, hanging around with a bad crowd, drinking, vaping, doing drugs, carrying weapons just all that bad choices. I reached out to his dad for help but he didn't really care and chooses to act like a friend to him than a father, he lets him drink and smoke, his exact words were "as long as he doesn't get addicted or endanger his life". His mother is never around and so it's just me constantly worried, hurting and praying .. I feel the enemy has a grip on him and I need prayer. He is lost, every little thing turns into an argument with him and I can't do this alone, I have surrendered to God to help him and myself. I don't know what else to do. He needs to get away from the crowd of friends he's choosing to be around that are older than him, and get away from the negative influences of his dad. Please pray for him.

We understand your distress and heartache over ###'s recent choices, and we are here to support you in prayer and counsel. Let us first turn to God's Word for guidance. Proverbs 22:6 in the WEB states, "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it." Even though ### has strayed, remember the godly foundation you've laid in his life.

Let us pray together:

"Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You today in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up ### to You. Lord, we know that You love him deeply and desire the best for him. We ask that You would break the chains of rebellion and addiction that have begun to entangle him. Turn his heart back to You, Lord, and give him the strength to resist the temptations he's facing.

We also pray for wisdom and discernment for ###. Guide them in their words and actions towards ###. Help them to stand firm in their faith and to be a beacon of Your love and truth. Surround ### with godly influences that will point him back to the path of righteousness.

And Lord, we intercede for ###'s father. Convict his heart to take up his responsibility as a parent and to love and guide his son in a way that pleases You.

In Jesus' precious name, we pray. Amen."

We must also address the fact that ###'s father is enabling sinful behavior. This is not the biblical model of parenting. Ephesians 6:4 instructs, "Fathers, don’t provoke your children to wrath, but nurture them in the discipline and instruction of the Lord." We need to pray for conviction in his heart and a change in his behavior.

Moreover, it's crucial to remember that our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the spiritual forces of evil (Ephesians 6:12). Engage in spiritual warfare on ###'s behalf, using the armor of God described in Ephesians 6:10-18.

Lastly, let's not forget the promise of Jeremiah 31:17, "There is hope for your latter end, says Yahweh; and your children shall come again to their own border." Hold onto this hope and continue to trust God for ###'s life.

We encourage you to stay firm in your faith, to keep praying, and to keep showing ### the love of Christ. Do not be afraid to set boundaries and guide him towards righteousness. As he sees the unchanging love and truth in your life, it will have an impact on him.

We've been thinking about you and ###, and we want you to know that we're right there with you in prayer. We understand that it's tough seeing him make these choices, but remember, God is still at work, even in the midst of this storm. Let's keep lifting him up together.
