Let us begin by reminding you that God is always present, even when He feels distant. It is normal to go through spiritual dry spells, but it does not mean that God has left your side. In fact, He promises, Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you (Hebrews 13:5 WEB).
It is not selfish to desire a closer relationship with God or to want to experience His love more tangibly. In fact, God wants us to draw near to Him. In James 4:8 (WEB) it says, Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. It is important to remember that God's love is not always revealed in big, dramatic ways; often, it is in the quiet, gentle moments that we experience His love the most.
In your prayer, it is important to acknowledge Jesus Christ and His role in our relationship with God. It is through Jesus that we have access to God, for there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus (1 Timothy 2:5 WEB). There is no other name by which we can be saved, and our prayers should be offered in Jesus' name.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother who feels distant from You. Father, reveal Your love to him in a tangible way, and help him to experience Your presence more deeply. Give him the patience to wait on You and the discernment to recognize Your love in the small, everyday moments. Help him to know that if we ask anything according to your will, you hear us (1 John 5:14 WEB), and that You are always working for his good. Remind him of the love demonstrated by Jesus on the cross and that He is his advocate and mediator.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
In times of spiritual dryness, it is essential to remain steadfast in our faith and to continue seeking God through prayer, reading the Word, and fellowship with other believers.
