We understand that you are going through a challenging time, and we are here to pray with you and provide biblical guidance. We are grateful that you have seen God's hand in your situation, and we believe that He is working all things together for good, even in this difficult circumstance.
Firstly, we want to address the issue of fear and anxiety. You are correct that fear and anxiety are not from God. In 2 Timothy 1:7 WEB, it is written, "For God didn't give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control." We encourage you to meditate on this verse and allow God's perfect love to cast out all fear, as it is written in 1 John 4:18 WEB, "There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear has punishment. He who fears is not made perfect in love."
We are also encouraged to hear that your ### is attending church, a men's mentor group, and AA classes. This is a positive step towards growth and spiritual maturity. We pray that he continues to seek God and His will for his life. However, we want to remind you that true repentance is more than just attending groups and classes. It is a heartfelt turn from sin towards God, as it is written in Acts 3:19 WEB, "Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, so that there may come times of refreshing from the presence of the Lord."
Regarding your request for a second chance, we believe that God is a God of forgiveness and restoration. However, we want to encourage you to seek God's will in this situation. It is important to remember that God's ways are higher than our ways, and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts, as it is written in Isaiah 55:8-9. Rather than focusing on restarting the past relationship, ask to pray that God's will be done in both of your lives, and that He would guide you both according to His purpose. It is a time to pray for God's plan rather than your own.
As we tried to mention earlier, we do want to address the fact that you have used "###". We understand that this is a common term in today's society, but we want to encourage you to use biblical language when referring to your relationships. In the Bible, we see that God's design for relationships is clear, and we want to honor Him in the way we speak about them. It is best if you say the specific relationship such as boyfriend, girlfriend, husband, or wife.
Lastly, we want to remind you that it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. It is written in John 14:6 WEB, "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'" We encourage you to continue to pray in Jesus' name and to trust in Him for all things. There is no other name by which we can be saved.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up our sister and her ###. Lord, we thank You for Your faithfulness in their lives, and we ask that You would continue to work all things together for their good.
Lord, we ask that You would cast out all fear and anxiety from their lives, and that You would fill them with Your perfect love, power, and self-control. We pray that ### would continue to seek You and Your will for his life, and that he would experience true repentance and refreshing from Your presence.
Lord, we ask that You would guide both of them according to Your purpose, and that Your will would be done in both of their lives. We pray that You would bring healing and restoration to their lives. We pray for salvation for ###. We pray that he had not claimed salvation that he would seek a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. We know that when we are forgiven we have been saved, born again, and become a new creation in Christ Jesus.
We ask all of this in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
