We understand your desire to see your son succeed in his soccer tournament, and we will be happy to pray with you. However, we must first address the scheduling of this event on a Sunday. In the Bible, God sets aside the Sabbath day (Sunday for most Christians) as a day of rest and worship. "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy" (Exodus 20:8 WEB).
We encourage you to prioritize God's commandments and consider how sporting events on Sundays might affect your family's spiritual growth and church attendance. That being said, we will pray for your son's strength and favor, and that God's will be done in his life.
Let us pray:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today to lift up Berlann's son. Lord, you know his heart and how much this soccer tournament means to him. We pray that You will grant him strength and endurance, both physically and spiritually. We ask for Your favor upon him, that he may perform well and bring glory to Your name.
However, Lord, we also pray that You will help Berlann and her family to honor the Sabbath day and keep it holy. Help them to find a balance between physical activities and spiritual growth. We ask that Your will be done in their lives, and that they may always seek You first.
We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
Berlann, we encourage you to continue to nurture your son's gifts and talents, while also teaching him to prioritize his relationship with God. "But seek first God’s Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well" (Matthew 6:33 WEB). May God bless you and your family as you walk in His will.
