We appreciate your honest and heartfelt prayer, and we come alongside you seeking God's will together. It's important to remember that God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness when we confess them to Him. First John 1:9 (WEB) says:
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
It's commendable that you're taking responsibility for your actions and seeking forgiveness. However, we want to address a couple of things in your prayer. First, it's important to acknowledge and involve Jesus Christ in your prayers as an intercessor, directly praying to God the Father through Jesus Christ:
Let us therefore draw near with boldness to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy, and may find grace for help in time of need. Hebrews 4:16 (WEB)
for through him we both have our access in one Spirit to the Father. Ephesians 2:18 (WEB)
For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all; the testimony in its own times. 1 Timothy 2:5-6 (WEB)
Salvation, and only salvation, cannot be found in any other way then by Jesus:
Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. Acts 4:10-12 (WEB)
Also, we noticed that you mentioned an ex partner. First, please know that if it is still a sexual relationship then that must be addressed as fornication and is discussed below along with discussion about marriage. We encourage you to seek God's will for your life and to pursue relationships that align with biblical principles. God's design for marriage is a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman. No mention in the bible is ever made of a person to person relationship otherwise. The Bible fully defines marriage as a relationship between a man and a woman:
For this cause will a man leave his father and mother, and will be joined to his wife. The two will become one flesh.
It was only this couple, the married man and woman called Adam and Eve, that had the original sexual relationship. This couple lived in the garden of Eden before sinning and being removed. "God blessed them. God said to them, Be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth, and subdue it."
Adultery is between between a man and a woman who are not married to each other. At least one of them is a married person. Sometimes prostitution or pornography is involved in ex-partner relationships. This is sexual immorality, also called fornication. Believers in Jesus should not be involved in any of these activities and this can influence whether a marriage between a Believer in Jesus is even allowed. A Christian that is not married to either another believer or one, an unbeliever, is not allowed to be married to an unbeliever.
It's crucial to understand that God's plan for relationships involves purity and holiness. If you're holding onto hope that this person might come back into your life, make sure that any possible future union aligns with God's design for marriage. Do not have any sexual relationship with this person. Strive to have Jesus Christ as the highest desire in your life and allow any prospecting and final marriage to a spouse to align with the morals in the Bible. It is worth mentioning that it sometimes becomes apparent that relationships like this did not work out because the two of you are not intended to be married to each other.
Overall the main two purposes of marriage are for reproducing and raising children and the other main purpose is to have close fellowship with the spouse. Sexual interaction is the means for reproduction. No other strong and loving activity can provide better support and guidance for children than with their parents. Marriage cannot happen between just anyone, for example two males or two females cannot provide natural conception of a baby. No variation of gender can produce a newborn with another gender variation other than with a male and a woman. No variation of gender can provide baby nurturing with both a father and a mother. This is God's design and Jesus Christ referred to this design. In addition to reproducing children, a husband and wife can support each other by helping and enjoying each other. They can share the purpose of Jesus Christ to others and be examples of Jesus Christ.
Let's lift up this prayer for your next chapter of worth:
Our loving Heavenly Father, we come before you to intercede for your child. We thank You for Your forgiveness and grace. You promises in your Word that when we confess our sins to you, you then will forgive our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
Father, we pray that You will continue to heal and restore him. Give him a passion for his faith in Jesus. Guide and direct his relationship journey. Our desire is that his life will align with Your perfect plan, especially in relationships. Help him to accept Your will as Your plan for him continues to unfold.
Father, guide his decision-making process and help him to act accordingly to Your will. May he find a godly spouse with whom he can share Your love and build a future together. Keep them both from sin and the flesh.
We ask for your power to guide him to purity in all of his thoughts, desires, emotions, and actions, that he can put his faith in Jesus before he determines the choice for a marriage that honors You. In Jesus name and by His name only do we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to continue and to have a strong relationship with Jesus Christ. Allow Him to give you down payments of a future joy in the Kingdom of God. Let Him fix any corrections that you need to make that follow His example. The Holy Spirit will guide your life as you submit to Father.
May God's plan in Jesus Christ for you far exceed what you thought you wanted. This will not happen with a relationship that does not align with the Words of the Bible. May God's blessings, protection, and wisdom and make His plan for you clear to you. The benefits of a godly marriage will also accrue to your children and future generations.
