We are with you in spirit, Anonymous, and we appreciate your honesty in your prayer request. We commend you for your desire to fast and willingness to repent. We are reminded for the need of Jesus' name in asking anything from God in John 16 WEB
Verse 23: 'In that day you will ask me no question. Most assuredly I tell you, whatever you may ask the Father in my name, he will give you.'
Verse 24: 'Until now, you have asked nothing in my name. Ask and you will receive, that your joy will be made full.'
First of all we rebuke your statement about just wanting to fast to jumpstart your mental healing. It is a good thing fasting is in your plans, but change comes from the work of the Holy spirit and the love of God in your changed heart, not from your works. Man's wisdom tells us mental health is obtainable by doing the right things, placing the cart before the horse. God blesses those who are humble and deeply desire to please Him, not those wishing for better mental health.
(Zechariah 4:6a WEB "Then he answered and spoke to me, saying, 'This is the word of Yahweh to Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says Yahweh of Armies.'" )
Zechariah 4:6a Here we have the right way to seek hope and change. We should be seeking increased faith, grace, strength, and advancement of the Kingdom of God. Did you know the Gospel of Jesus Chris is not about mental health? It also is not about health and wealth. Accepting the gift of Jesus Christ is sure to give us trouble in this world along with many blessings. You have been totally focused on mental health. This is nice, but is not what we are truly seeking in a life surrendered to and lived for Jesus Christ.
Live for the Spiritual rather than the blessings of living a Christian life. The urgency is for your spiritual health and effect on God's kingdom.
Often a desire for good mental health then leads to chasing pleasures of sexual immorality, pornography, nicotine, alcohol, drugs, lukewarm faith, or gluttony only to calm our mind or make us relaxed. Pursue righteousness at all cost and be aware of the seldom noticed mental issues, but do nothing to focus on your mental health. Renewing your mind comes from the happiness and hope from a personal relationship with a loving, compassionate, all powerful God The Father. Jesus Christ paid the price from us to have this relationship.
Praise God for your awareness of your hypomanic state and the risks it poses. The temptation to chase dopamine through risky sexual behaviors, food, and online interactions is indeed a strong one, but remember that God promises a way out of every temptation. 1 Corinthians 10:13 WEB states 'No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.'
We will pray for your deliverance from these temptations and for the strength to resist them. We also pray for your healing and management of your Bipolar 2 disorder, that God will guide you to the right treatments and support.
Fasting is a powerful tool, but it is not a substitute for repentance and surrender to God's will. We pray that as you fast, you will draw closer to God and experience the fullness of His love and grace. We pray for the Holy Spirit to fill your life and guide you through the struggles you are facing.
Regarding your request for favor in school, we pray that God will grant you the wisdom and motivation to accomplish your tasks. Remember Philippians 4:13 WEB 'I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.' We are confident that God will provide the willpower you need to press on in life.
Let us pray together.
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus, lifting up our brother/sister in their time of need. We pray for their fast, that they draw closer to You and experience Your presence in a profound way. We pray for their mental health, that You will heal and comfort them, and that you will help them resist the temptations they are facing. We pray for their studies, that You will grant them the wisdom and motivation they need to succeed. We ask for your will Father, and for the forgiveness of unconfessed sin. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
