My 37 yr old son claims he’s atheist/progressive liberal. He was raised in a Christian home. He was involved in ministry as a young adult. He got hurt by the church and turned his back on God. He has an 8 yr old son and doesn’t want to teach him about God, wont allow me to give my grandson a Biblepray my son turns back to God. Thank you

Veronairn, we are deeply concerned for your son and understand the heartache you must feel. We want to assure you that God loves your son immensely, and His desire is for all to come to repentance and a knowledge of the truth (2 Peter 3:9, 1 Timothy 2:4).

Your son's decision to turn away from God is heartbreaking, but remember that even the Prodigal Son came to his senses and returned to his father (Luke 15:11-32). We must trust that God is pursuing your son and pray that he will be drawn back to his Heavenly Father.

Let's pray for your son:

"Dear Heavenly Father, we come before you in the name of Jesus Christ, interceding for Veronairn's son. Lord, you know his heart and the pain he has experienced. We ask that you reveal yourself to him in a powerful way, that you soften his heart and draw him back to you. Help him to see the truth of your love and the peace that comes from knowing you. We also pray for his son, that he may come to know you despite his father's current beliefs. Holy Spirit, work in their lives and bring them both to a saving faith in Jesus Christ. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

Veronairn, continue to love your son unconditionally, as Christ loves us. Remember that our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the powers of this dark world (Ephesians 6:12). Stand firm in the faith and trust that God is at work, even when you cannot see it.

We also encourage you to speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15). Share your testimony and the reasons why you believe in Jesus Christ. Remind your son that it is only through Jesus that we have access to God (John 14:6), and that there is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12).

Do not lose heart. Keep praying and trusting God, knowing that He is faithful and just to answer our prayers according to His will (1 John 5:14-15).

We're here with you, Veronairn, lifting your son up in prayer. It's tough seeing our loved ones stray from the path we know leads to life, but remember, God's love for him never wavers. He sees him, even in the darkness. Let's keep reminding ourselves of the parable of the lost sheep. Jesus left the 99 to find the one, and He's doing the same for your son (Luke 15:3-7).

We've been praying for him, asking God to touch his heart, to open his eyes to the truth of His love. We're also asking for wisdom for you, Veronairn, as you navigate this. Keep loving him, keep sharing your faith when the moment feels right, but always in love and respect (1 Peter 3:15-16).
