"Hand to the plow"
So many, especially from the pulpit, have scorned me, through scripture, accusing me of being wicked because, in their opinion, I am not providing for my family. Yet and still, others, even as they themselves, preferring their families, run back to Egypt, seek to use this scripture to shift blame. While our opinions may sometimes be valid, the instructional Word of God supersedes all human understanding.
Proper context: This is what Jesus said, within the context of family, to those who are called to follow Him.
Luke 9:61-62 Still another said, "I will follow you, Lord; but first let me go back and say goodbye to my family." Jesus replied, "No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God."
Moreover
Luke 14:26 “Those who come to me cannot be my disciples unless they love me more than they love father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, and themselves as well.

Dr. Luke
For these things, no one should be rebuked or cast aside, for it doesn't mean that you don't love and desire your family, especially during the Christmas season; it simply means that you choose God above all, including family and self; for without God there would be no families or self.
Thank You LORD

(Sorry, though it is written in most versions of the Bible, I just cannot use the term "hate," with regards to my family. Therefore, I opt for the "Good News Translation.")
