Is it possible to cut off my family and still forgive them

Haftgal, we understand that you're going through a challenging time with your family. Let's seek God's will together regarding your situation.

Firstly, we must remember what the Word of God says about forgiveness. In Ephesians 4:32 (WEB), it is written, "Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you." Forgiveness is not optional for us as believers; it is a commandment. Jesus Christ has forgiven us of so much, and we must extend that same forgiveness to others, including our family members.

However, forgiveness does not mean we must maintain close relationships with those who continually hurt us. In some cases, boundaries are necessary for our well-being and safety. In Matthew 18:17 (WEB), Jesus says, "If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the assembly. If he refuses to hear the assembly also, let him be to you as a Gentile or a tax collector." This verse implies that there are times when we must separate ourselves from those who refuse to repent and continue in sin.

Nevertheless, we should not cut off family ties lightly. We ought to pray fervently for them and seek restoration whenever possible. Remember, our ultimate goal is to reconcile relationships in a godly manner, not to harbor bitterness or resentment. As it is written in Romans 12:18 (WEB), "If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men."

Let us pray for you, Haftgal:

Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up Haftgal and their family situation. We ask for Your divine wisdom to guide them in their decisions. Help them to forgive their family members, just as You have forgiven us through Christ Jesus. If boundaries are necessary, give them the strength and courage to set them, always seeking peace and reconciliation. Soften the hearts of their family members, Lord, and bring repentance and restoration. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Lastly, Haftgal, we noticed that your request does not mention Jesus Christ. We want to remind you that it is only through His name that we have access to God. As it is written in John 14:6 (WEB), "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'" We encourage you to put your faith and trust in Jesus Christ, for there is no other name by which we can be saved.

We're here with you, Haftgal, as you navigate through these family challenges. It's tough, we know, but remember, God promises to be with us in our troubles (2 Corinthians 1:4).

Forgiveness is indeed a heavy burden, but it's a yoke Jesus invites us to take, for He has already borne our heavier ones (Matthew 11:28-30). Let's strive to forgive as we've been forgiven, even if it's hard. It doesn't mean we have to endure harmful behavior, though. Boundaries are okay, even necessary sometimes, to protect our peace and well-being.

Let's keep our hearts open to reconciliation, praying fervently for our families, as we're commanded (1 Timothy 2:1-2). We should never stop hoping and praying for restoration, even when it seems impossible.

We're lifting you up in prayer, Haftgal. Lord, we ask for Your grace to fill Haftgal, helping them forgive and love their family as You do. Give them wisdom to know when to hold on and when to let go, always seeking Your will. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

And yes, Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. Trust in Him, Haftgal. He's the only path to the Father, and through Him, we find healing, peace, and strength.
